Doc appt with local neph.  Found out that my medical records from my overnight stay do NOT document which antibiotic I had the reaction to.  And they gave me several different ones very close to each other.  Do said he couldn't tell unless I knew what time it was.  Uhhh, the middle of the night, between doses of Oxy and morphine.  No clue.

But, I did get to wander around the HUGE art festival - Artprize - going on downtown.  Hundreds of venues showing thousands of artists, and with almost $500,000 in prizes to be split among the top 10 - who are all chosen by the public, voting online or on a cell phone, after registering and activating a voting account in person.  The local paper calculated that if you wanted to see each artwork, taking into account the hours the venues/museums/galleries are open during the 20 days of the festival, but not including travel or walking time, you'd have 6 minutes to spend with each piece of art. Like I said, it's HUGE!

   :stressed;    It is a little difficult to get much done with no electricity. We had a small storm on Monday & a large section of our area lost power. We have chosen to wait for the  electrician (known , trusted & inexpensive) because everyone else we called wants twice as much. It will probably be Monday before he can get to us.

What's past is prologue

« Reply #552 on: October 04, 2011, 08:13:55 PM »

I have finished all of my school stuff for the week, but I do have both a test and important paper due shortly after my return from Vegas. I am trying not to get overwhelmed - test is in Biometry and I have not missed a single point on any of the quizzes or homeworks, so I don't think I will need loads of study time for that, and my grade is not in much danger (suppose I could really botch something, but I am a math person to the core and think it will be fine). My psychological anthro prof is a tough grader, though. I have started on my paper already, and it's only five pages, but ever since the transplant, I know I no longer have the ability to pull an all-nighter the way I used to do with such frequency. My parents will be here in a matter of hours.

Today I also did laundry, put clothes away, changed the table linens, attended my classes, picked up my clothes from the tailor, and sent a few emails out to professors. Gwyn attended a seminar today so he was done quite early and offered to take Liot to soccer practice. I said yes, please. I have been feeling draggy all day and really was dreading that practice. I picked up Aidan, the four of us met at Whole Foods where Gwyn and the boys ate pizza and had drinks from their cold case. I am trying to reduce carbs, so I had spaghetti squash and tofu curry.

Then Gwyn took Aidan to play soccer on a friend's team. Soccer was not terribly well thought through this year - each team only has eight players, and with six minimum required to play, there is no room for kids having conflicts and not turning up for games. So, everyone is calling everyone else for volunteer subs, and Aidan is always a safe bet for that. Liot and I did a bit of shopping at Whole Foods (their organic nectarines were stunning) and then I took him home, got him into the shower, let him play on my iPhone for a bit, two stories and bed. Gwyn is cleaning furiously, and I should really go help. Ta!

Let's see.... Got up at about 8am to let the dog out, on way back inside I took my tablets, thought "screw it" and went back to a dead sleep till 11, got dressed, did the washing/drying up, did clothes washing and it's overcast so shoved them into the dryer, vaccumed, changed the kitty litter, moped the kitchen and laundry and made a list of food we need.

And my parents tell me I'm undomestic.

OH, and watched season 2 of Doctor Who (with David Tennant) while doing the grocery list.

Yesterday I spent the whole day - and I started at 6am as the itchy shingles kicked me out of bed early - catching up on bookwork. And today I have rewarded myself by emailing family and friends, and then spending time here on IHD - always rewarding and satisfying!

I slept all day today, which means that I'll be up all night tonight... maybe that means I can sleep through the turkey dinner tomorrow... I"m not really looking forward to it..

Researched a presentation on the ACLU's case against Michigan's anti-begging law.
Finished another half dozen ornaments for the Christmas craft show and started several more.
Fixed what was left of my manicure after spending half the afternoon destroying it with glue while doing crafts.
Slept in after staying up half the night at the karaoke bar, watching my fellow law clinic students get very, very drunk.  Pretty sure that's not really an accomplishment, though.  Figuring out the best way to use the blackmail photos might qualify, though!

Hi Riki, I hadn't voted in years and decided in the last couple of elections that I should start again. Yes, ours got a lot of coverage.  I wasn't happy with the results LOL
I'm so sorry you're not looking forward to your turkey diinner.....ours is today, I will be a busy Bee running around like a chicken with it's head cut off LOL

Hmmmm now I have to think, what did I accomplish yesterday? Oh yeah, I went for a 8 km walk along the Niagara escarpment, it was just beautiful! It was quite the hike and quite the scenery, there was a look out point and it was just fantastic, the leaves are turning colors and are so incredibly beautifull! And I did dialysis too in the am, I skipped my nap in the afternoon and I actually felt energetic enough to do all that hikig, I was happy!    :flower;

Let's see. Yesterday I had D in the morning then my husband & I and two friends went to see "Sweeney Todd" at Drury Lane Theatre. I had won the tickets from a local radio station. It was a fantastic production! Lot's of fun.

Today I waited for a plumber who was supposed to repair an emergency two hours ago.
When phoning his employer I was told he got sick just before my appointment with him at 1 o’clock.
I suspected, of course, that Monday may not be a very motivating day, but I was really hoping.
Problem is it’s a complicated repair in the kitchen and I already found out not many plumbers have the skills...
Now I really feel like “Waiting for Godot”... because I was promised it will be repaired another day...

I was outside most of the day. I watered my plants, cleaned up my herb garden, moved my solar lights so they can get better sun, supervised my dog & the neighbour's dog while they played, took both dogs for a walk, then just sat & read for a while and enjoyed the nice weather.

I love being outdoors, esp when it's nice outside like it was here too today. I like to take advantage of the warm weather while it lasts before winter comes as I dread winter driving.

The second of two required presentations for my Advanced Litigation class is OVER.   :bandance; :bandance; :bandance; :bandance; :bandance;

I hate public speaking.  Hate, hate, hate it.

Now, I have to decide if I do any more for extra credit or not.  I can do it two more times if I want, for 5 pts each.  Given how nit-picky this prof is when it comes to grading, it might not be a bad thought.  It's just not a happy one for me!

Hmm...Let's see: Got up on time (4am);     :2thumbsup;   Got to the center on time (6:15am);    :2thumbsup;   Still waiting to run!     :stressed;    NOT the clinic's fault. I've been having problems with the Venus part of my fistula. There's too much pressure and it literally pushes the needle out.    :banghead;   So I'm sitting here with the Arterial in waiting for the head nurse to get here. They tried my buttonhole, no luck. Yes, the same nurse sticks me all the time. It went in with no problem but stopped running once it got in all the way. Pulled it 1/2 way out and it would run but not stay in place. So we pulled it and tried in a different spot with the same result. I still can't believe the words came out of my mouth agreeing to get stuck a third time! I don't think it will work but I'm willing to try. That's been my day so far.

Aww, Cebushan!

We got up and had breakfast with the granddaughters before they left for school. Then had leisurely showers and drove our SIL's vehicle to school for him. Then we drove north from Stockbridge, MA to Williamstown and went the the Williams College Museum of Art. Had a lovely lunch at a corner deli there in Williamstown and drove west in NY to drive back to Stockbridge. Lovely, lovely fall colors all around and the weather is PERFECT.

Tomorrow will be rainy, but the granddaughters are staying home from school with us.  :2thumbsup;

It is nice to be on "vacation" in Massachusetts!  :clap;

Hello, Natalya, nice to “meet” you again, and thanks.
The emergency in my kitchen was only semi-fixed,
and I am still “waiting for Godot” to have it properly fixed...that’s the bad news...
...the good news is that my “two little fighters” are doing a tiny little better,
and my GFR has gone up a further percent.
I know it is not much, but at least it has not deteriorated further.

I have been doing a little better for the past 4 weeks;
I went for a little walk every day of the week
and it has done me lots of good.

How have you been doing?
