Did I accomplish something today? Wife beat me at checkers during dialysis. Came home to read a fired-up political thread. I couldn't resist.

I popped into the charity shop to see if they had a skirt for work. About fifteen minutes later I walked back out with two black skirts, one pair of black jeans and two tops for the grand total of £15 and all of which are work friendly. As each item individually would have cost me at least £15 brand new I think I did very well.
*smug grin*
Plus, it means I can get some new boots.

I worked a regular day, bu AFTER work....
Headed to town to run some errands, but there was a terrific traffic back-up. At a split in a four-lane highway, all the traffic was being diverted one direction, due to an accident shortly past the split. Fortunately the direction we needed to go was open, but it was stop and go for miles.
So, we went to the bank, then to Office Depot to drop off some printing and pick up some supplies for school. The next stop was Wal-Mart where we purchased some dishes and silverware for our new trailer (along with some other things). Then on the Lowe's for more things. After that we went to Target, where we were able to get some plastic "glasses" for the trailer, and finally on the the grocery store.
I was so glad there was a simple "heat and eat" left-over meal ready for us when we finally got home. I'm POOPED!
But the weekend is beginning and most of the running around is DONE!

We had an "adoption day/birthday party" for our rescue dog. So I got some shopping done, got my house cleaned, I had a telephone interview with Social Security, and I got some things in the mail that needed to go out.

I managed to unprogram my car radio after my nephew reprogrammed it this weekend so the bass made my windows rattle. Gotta love a teenager - just not what they do to your stuff!

Besides getting my house clean, I got my "soil starter" going. It's a little trick I learned years ago from a master gardener. (who has, sadly, passed on) it has never failed to get comments of amazement when people see the plant growth. I am so ready for spring!

That soil starter sounds great, Cebushan. My garden needs all the help it can get as I forget to water!
I am feeling very satisfied - cleaned up old paper in the office: so many precious memories. Am thinking I'll have to have a go at scrapbooking some of them. Having never had a go before, it will be challenging.
Then I spent this morning on the 4wheeler spraying burrs! Lots more to do but I can see where I've been!

Replied to an ad on Craigslist. My new kitty was born today and will be coming home as soon as it is big enough to leave its mom!

I didn't even get a full treatment today! Pressures started out good and then bottomed out. Tried getting stuck 2 more times to no avail. Came home and slept until the hospital called to set up my mammo appointment in March. That's all I've done today!

Trip to Costco. Spent less than $200 which is pretty good for us.
Emailed the woman who hit my car again. I am going to have to file with small claims court if she continues to ignore me. I'm giving her until Monday and hoping that she will meet that deadline. She works for the university where most of our money goes, so she cannot exactly hide.

This was one of THOSE days.
It started off just as the kids were arriving with a call from my dad. He was on his way by ambulance to ER. Then before lunch I got a call from a fellow who had driven up from Alabama to see a modular building that the non-profit I preside over is selling. He was sitting outside the building and needed me to drive out there to let him in.
Carl's assistant doesn't arrive on Thursdays until after lunch, so he couldn't go. All right. Twenty minute drive over to the building, and while this guy is taking photos, I do some sweeping and cleaning. Then back to school just in time for lunch. While I was gone, my dad had called to tell me that he was being admitted to the hospital.
Thursday afternoons at school are always interesting as I gather the students (1st - 6th grade) for a discussion about an inspirational quote that they will incorporate into a journal entry. Then they write in their journals. The younger students finish earlier and I write responses to them while the older students finish up. Then I read to them. I am trying to get this book finished by next Tuesday because the older students are going on a camping trip to the Smoky Mountains and I want to have it finished by then. So, just as I announce that it is time to read, the health inspector arrives. I am supposed to handle that, but I have already gotten my class "ready" to hear me read. (I am reading "Because of Winn-Dixie" and this is a truly exceptional book.) So, Carl steps out of his class to handle that while I continue reading.
We were able to leave school at 3:15 today.....that doesn't usually happen. I dropped Carl off at home and headed to the hospital.
I almost just went up the the fourth floor (heart patients) because that is where my dad has gone for the last 4 or 5 visits to the hospital. On second thought, I stopped at information and discovered that he was on the fifth floor. Hmmmmm. So while I'm standing waiting for the elevator, I scan the departments. Oh oh. Oncology.
A pulmonary doctor is with Dad when I get to his room. Te admitting ER doctor had the cause for admitting him down as pneumonia, but the pulmonary doc says that there are no signs, but the x-ray showed a "consolidated" area in one lung.
Damn. My dad has no idea what they are talking about so he isn't worried about anything. I'm going to leave it that way. He never listens to the doctors and never has, so it doesn't really matter.
I called my brother before leaving Dad, and he said that he was on his way out (about 45 minutes away). So I came on home and fixed some dinner for us. A real honest-to-goodness dinner, too, not a heat-and-eat! Salmon croquettes, baked sweet potato, and my mixed squash and tomato with garlic saute. It was GOOOOD!
And now a little down time on the computer. Whew. It HAS been one of those days.

My dad has flirted with death so many times in the past 5 years that my brother and I have lost count. The hospital even had me spend the night once so I could make "that decision" during the night. He went home 2 days later. He's a tough old bird, but not getting any younger. Each time he is in the hospital, we wonder if this is "it." I love my dad. But I also know that he will not live forever. That is the rhythm of life....and death.
He has gone over with me all the details of his wishes, so I'm "prepared" as much as anyone can be.
I will let you know. Thanks.

for Aleta!
Had all the answers my two junior law students were supposed to know during our weekly meeting with their supervisory atty/professor. Bit my tongue a lot while they fumbled around looking for them. Prof keep grinning and saying, "Don't help!" He then told them they were lucky to have me volunteering to work with them as their paralegal because I was "freakishly good" at family law. Strangest compliment I've heard in a while, but I'll take it.
It sounds better than the one I got from a previous supervising atty at a different pro bono clinic - "over-enthusiastic do-gooder!"
Baby pics below. Everyone cross your fingers for me that the woman who posted the ad on craigslist doesn't back out when it's time to give one to me!

Awww, gorgeous mother and babies jb! And *huggles* for Aleta!
I watched the final four episodes of Buffy this afternoon. Seven seasons in six months ... not bad going for someone who used to shy away from anything vampire related and couldn't understand the attraction of very beautiful, young, ageless, intensely brooding (and a little bit evil) dead men ...

I got my hair done; did some grocery shopping; paid some bills; and made a pot of chili. I'll be working all weekend. I have a movie check to do. My favourite type of assignment! I have to check "Journey 2: The Mysterious Island" My husband is a little upset that I am working on Sunday (it's my bd) but oh well! We need the money!

CebuShan!
I visited my dad in the hospital. And he had good news. They will release him on Monday. Apparently he was coughing up blood from bronchitis, even though he did not have a bad cough.
Thanks for all the *huggles* and concern.
