be warned, I will ramble and I will use - 's instead of grammar
there - fair warning

Coach Sherman - coach of Aggies  , FSFA - college money   Woodlands - our rival school

on what should have been a fun Father's Day turned into sorrow and worry - Bubba was called into the coach's office and told that he is breaking an NCAA rule- it is a long story so hold on -
Allen was going to sign with Colorado School of the Minds -- a full scholarship but we had to pay some the first year because he is out of state - the coach fly to our house and talked to us and recruited Allen-
so the morning he was to sign - Coach Sherman went to the Woodlands high school and the coaches there told him about Allen - Coach Sherman came to Conroe to look at films with Allen on them and he wanted Allen - so Allen wanted to play in the Big 12 so he agreed - and he told the coach he would get
help with FSFA - so we did and Allen has been there a year now -
Allen became a preferred walk-on
Allen was told in front of the entire team that he was the only one worth a damn in the freshman class and he works harder than anyone -  nothing but compliments
and Allen is the only member who does what he is told and over and beyond -
the NCCA rule is that any walk- on can not play if they get FSFA money and they were introduced to any coach ahead of time
since Coach Sherman came to Conroe and asked about Allen he cannot play and get FSFA money -
FSFA money is money he does not have to pay back ever -
we would have to take out loan money that he would have to pay back - I talked to the coach that told Allen about this and he said it is not A&M's fault -- I asked whose job is it to look into eligibility -
Allen went over and beyond to do his part -- A&M is at fault-
I said," make this right for Allen."
My husband also talked to him and he said the two main coaches are on vacation until the middle of July -
but the news will not be any better.
We do not have the money and if the rule would have been known - Allen would have signed with Colorado of the Minds - which is an excellent engineering school --
we do not think it is right for them to screw up and we have to get loans Allen will be strapped with-
he had to turn down scholarships because he was going to play football - one was for 12,000 but when he wrote about football - he had to give it back
and there were others -
the coach called us back and said Allen could use the FSFA money and be red-shirted again and not play -
he could not make the traveling team or anything -- just like his freshman year but he goes to all the practices and does all the hard work
the next year lots of senior's graduate and they could use Allen then - we feel cheated and  used
- my husband has to check for grades and many things for his teams to be eliible
someone goofed and we have to pay for it
this is wrong
they know I need a kidney transplant and my husband is a coach
my husband picks up trash at a shopping center, mows some shopping centers, does Saturday dention school plus teaches and coaches basketball, football and track and goes to church on Sundays and does volunteer work for the church ( no pay there)  -  we paid Allen's rent last year and gave him gas and food money -- ( about 600.00 ) a month
FSFA did not cover everything
and Allen wanted to work -- but he had to take a full class load and football "eats his lunch"
he gets up everyday at 5am and finishes about 9am --- football taking most the time and it is on weekends also -- some Sundays he cannot go to church because he is needed in football -
if you lasted reading all this - THANK YOU
twirl

A&M keeps insisting that this was not their fault  -

Getting the heck out of town.

« Reply #2 on: June 20, 2009, 07:03:13 AM »

Wish I had some words of consolation for you but all I can do is say that I am hoping for some good results out of this.  Bubba is such a hard worker that I'm sure, in the end, he'll come out on top.

I came back on becaure you said to and could never find you.  Now I know why?  Hang in there.  We  will have something to celebrate soon and we can get out the Bubba's Cordon Cookbook and throw a feast.

I just want to sit in a corner and cry
hey - that is what I am going to do

they still want allen at practice this summer and he is in a physics class

and my cow dog snapped at allen when allen was going to bathe him
I think it is the stress of the new puppy on Yogi
he is normally sweet and lovable
we are having a big argument
my husband, Allen and of course me
I love Yogi and think he is confused
he was like that as a puppy but he outgrew it when he learned he was not the head of the clan

I am so sorry to hear about this, Twirl.  Allen deserves better.    :cuddle;

I hope there is a way for this to be made right.

Cheryl I don't understand half of this because in the UK you can play for any football team as long as you're good enough.......I guess in the USA it is all linked into Colleges.  What I do know is that you, your husband and son are good ,honest and caring people and just don't deserve to have all this happen.  I will be thinking of you and hoping it all turns out well.  Sending hugs for you all  :cuddle; :cuddle; :cuddle;

Sitting in the corner and crying will sometimes work.  Give it a go.

Aww Twirl   :cuddle;

Hate when stuff like this comes down on good people.  If your son is anything like you he will pull through this and come out ahead.  He sounds like a bright, ambitious fella.  Keep your head up and fight to the finish.

Do they have college football in the UK? or just Pro?

Twirl- I hope you guys find a loophole- this seems so unfair. I should be graduating college right now and doing my internship- but because bad advice from my advisor- I missed enrolling in the right order of classes, its going to cost me a whole other year of school- its enough to make you cry and bang your head on the wall. I will be thinking of you- would a letter campaign help? maybe a letter campaign to your local news source? count us in if you think it may help

UT did not think Allen was big enough to play football for them --- a year later or now
he is 6 feet 4 and 285  and huge  --- not fat but football huge

What about glitter's suggestion?  A letter to the Chronicale wouldn't hurt anything and it might get printed.  Or any of those TV advocates.  Since Marvin is gone I have no idea who they are but all stations have them now.  This is really frustrating for you.
