Can I get a WOOHOO?!
«
on:

I had my monthly checkup today (I'm a home hemo patient). In August, my PTH was at 900, and we've been working toward getting it lower.
This month - my PTH was.... wait for it......
148!!!!!!!
Last month it was still at 500. We doubled up on the Sensipar, and here I am. No more talk about surgery. I think that deserves a WOOHOO!

Good for you, Cherpep!
Is the Sensipar still making you sick? Glad the numbers have come down so much.

I'm definitely building up a tolerance to the Sensipar. It made me real sick in the beginning. I was OK until last month when she doubled the dose. But, I'm tolerating it more and more every day. Seeing the numbers go down will make it a lot easier to bear the nausea. I believe soon I'll completely tolerant and not get sick at all. Thinkin positive!

I know that WooooHoooo! Had one myself this month!
Actually, the last time I was on Sensipar, I started throwing up all the time. I was scheduled for surgery, since the Sensipar wasn't doing enough anyhow, and I asked if I could stop taking it in the last couple of weeks before the surgery. Doc said yes, and I stopped taking it. But I was still queasy and occasionally puking some of the time, so I have to wonder how much of the puking was the Sensipar, and how much was the chemical imbalance that comes with a high PTH.
My PTH, after bouncing around like a rubber ball - 900, then 450, then 600, etc., dropped this month to 385. Not perfect, but much better! So no surgery right now for me, either!
