Our tv works again!!!! We were having withdrawal symptoms and the tech wasn't supposed to get her to fix it until next Thurs.  We fixed it ourselves so don't need the tech. We had satellite tv and changed to digital cable but didn't like it so changed back to satellite. When the tech came and took the equipment for digital cable we hooked the satellite back up ourselves but couldn't get it to work!!  Figured out the problem this afternoon. Hubby had hooked the cables from the satellite dish into the splitter that was used for digital cable.  We changed it over to the old splitter that was there before and it works perfect!!!  Now if the cable guy would bring back our HDM1 cable that he took by mistake I would be happy.

I'm glad that Carl's fever broke and he did NOT have H1N1.  :clap; :clap; :clap;

Not only that, he is back in full swing, mowing the grass, puttering with the electronics (he is always rearranging his dialysis area) and the like.

Good health is a great gift (renal failure not withstanding!)

After a long break because of cool weather and rain, I was able to get a short swim in tonight. It was wonderful. And even if we have to shut the pool down soon, I'll be all right without it.  :2thumbsup;

I can't believe that I actually got to swim as late as September 25!  :yahoo;

Today would have been the 52nd birthday of my oldest child, who passed away when he was 14. This is the first time I have been at such peace with it. Takes awhile I suppose. Aldo, my daughter had gone to a psychic who said there was a message for me, and it was from my son. He said, Tell Mom, not to worry, I will be here when she crosses over. Not exactly looking forward to my leaving, but happy I will get to see him. PLUS. my GFR is back up to 20 again. I am happy.

We spent the day out on the salt water cod fishing.  I am very tired tonight but we got our quota of cod. Going again tomorrow.  Hope I don't get a fish hook in my hand like I did this morning. Luckily it wasn't in past the barb and I pulled it out myself!!!  Hubby got one in his hand a few years ago and had to go to the hospital to get it removed.  My face is red tonight from being outdoors all day!!  I'm enjoying a nice cold beer now!!!  Life is good. :thumbup;

Went to my brother in law's 40th birthday party last night.  Had a really nice time, and, if you didn't know I was sick,you wouldn't have known I was sick.  Does that make sense?  Such a big leap forward for me.

Diagnosed Nov 2007 with Multiple Myeloma.
By Jan 2008 was in end stage renal failure and on haemodialysis.
Changed to CAPD in April 2008.  Now on PD with a cycler.  Working very part time - teaching music.  Love it.  Husband is Paul (we're both 46), daughter Molly is 13.

We hosted a dinner club tonight. Nice conversation and I had a lovely time. We almost waited too late to do dialysis, though!

 :ukflag; We both sat in the garden sun bathing almost too hot, for England to have the weather we are having is most unusual. We can't call it an India summer until we have had some frost. Our weather patterns are changing and it's a bit scary.

2007 - January Renal failure
2007 - March Diagnosed with a Horseshoe kidney and bladder cancer.
2007 - June One kidney, Prostrate and Bladder removed with stage 4 cancer. Urostomy

Its changing here also Yvonne. Usually only August and September are really hot, not this year. Wonder if it is because of the "Global Warming" thing. If it doesnt rain in California soon, it will be a dust bowl.

Weather here in England over the weekend has been wonderful, we took the chance for a last minute break before Alan has his tube refitted in two weeks time, (hope they dont it cancell again) We had a brillient time, we went to Scarborough a sea side town,fantastic hotel, took in a show. We both feel revived.

Two week school holiday break here.  Yehar!!  Anyone who wants to complain about teachers getting holidays - I have an application for teachers training college in my bag if you want it lol.  I love holidays.

I have a fantastic class this year!!!  No behavior issues. They are all really good workers  -even the ones that are weak academically. I have activities done and completed now that it took me until the end of October last year!!  I'm going to have a great year!!!

I'm really enjoying my time back at the gym.  Pilates is tomorrow morning and I'm now doing a full two hour workout most days.  What amazes me is that I could quite easily do more...I don't go full full out but pretty fair pace and keeping up with my very fit friends.

I really need these workouts to help with the enormous stresses associated with moving my 91 year old mother-in-law into a retirement residence apartment.  She's downsizing from 2200 square feet to 540 so there's masses of work and it all falls to my husband and me.

Uldall-Cook catheter inserted May 2008
Haemo-dialysis, self care unit June 2008
(2 1/2 hours X 5 weekly)
Self-cannulated, 15 gauge blunts, buttonholes.
Living donor transplant (sister-in law Kathy) Feb. 2009
First failed kidney transplant removed Apr.  2009
Second trx doing great so far...all lab values in normal ranges

 :grouphug;  My 81 year old mother in law lives with us but I feel in the next few years she will need a retirement/nursing home. She gets very confused on times and her short term memory is really bad.  She is starting to be very (I don't know if it's the right word) paranoid.  In the past year or so she has been getting mad with both of us on times.  I am usually the one who gets it the most though. She's always asking why I'm bitching at her all the time. I am to the point where I often don't even speak to her for days - I'm not home a lot anyway.  Not because I'm mad or upset or "bitchy " but just to keep the peace!!!  Hubby realizes the time is coming and probably quicker than either of us realizes when she is going to need personal care. She was always one to be very well dressed and take care of herself. Now she doesn't care at all.

Enough of that!!  My positive is I am alive, I am healthy, hubby is doing fantastic, I am having a wonderful school year !!  Oh yeah the biggest positive is I'm down another 1 1/2 lbs tonight!!  That's 7 lbs since school opened Sept. 9. :yahoo;
