Thursday, I got home after being gone all day, walked in and dropped my stuff and then turned and walked right back out the door to go next door.  My fuzz-baby stood at the screen door and howled after me, totally distraught that I hadn't picked her up and cuddled her as soon as I came in.  They do want affection, not always food!

you're right. I am reminded of the following:

specifically:

Quote
Treat me kindly, my beloved friend, for no heart in all the world is more grateful for your kindness than mine. Don't be angry with me for long, and don't lock me up as punishment. After all, you have your job, your friends, your entertainment. I have only you.

Richard, the above quote, gave me chills!    LOVED IT!   Does anyone else besides me cringe when you see a dog tied to a leash?    I cringe everytime because I think it is cruel!   I might also feel so strongly against because when I was young, I lost a dog due to it getting its leash wrapped around its throat.    It was so sad & still haunts me to this day.   :'(

I hate it! My neighbors dogs are all chained up, even though we've offered to let them stay in our fenced in dog run after our lab had to be put to sleep. On the other hand, I hate driving around and seeing all these poor dogs running the streets.

Yes that part of the "ten commandments of pet ownership" has stuck so strongly in my mind for years since I first saw it and I think of it every time Celeste looks up at me with her big green eyes and she snuggles in happy to have me home.

Yesterday i got home and while snuggling with Celeste opened my mail. One of the items was a package from the RSPCA here. Inside was a certificate anointing me a "Friend of the RSPCA" which was a bit of a surprise. I think it's because I donated a couple of thousand dollars to them last year. Now I am going to be totally honest and say the motivation there was two fold. One to help the animals because without the RSPCA I would not have Celeste in my life (I rescued her from the shelter on Valentine's Day, 2004 :) ) and also because I did use the tax deduction on donations and it came handy come tax time. Still it was nice to be recognised. I am giving again this year for sure!

Rob showing off his pot of gold!

« Reply #1308 on: October 21, 2008, 04:53:58 PM »

I hate it also when I see a dog tied up, makes me sad and mad.  I sometimes torture myself and watch the Animal Cops shows on Animal Planet.  I hate to see beloved animals treated so badly.  It always makes me hug my dogs even tighter.

A funny thing just happened right now.  Scooby is my little shredder, he will shred all kinds of paper, tissues, napkins, you name it.  He just jumped up on the couch and gave me a a bunch of kisses and then snuggled into my leg.  Well, I thought it was a snuggle, but really he saw one of my tissues I forgot to toss out, grabbed it ever so slowly and started running around the living room.  He really wanted the chase and my son did just that.  Now Luke is snuggled up next to me on the couch.  I love my dogs!  They make everything sweeter in life.  :flower;

With all that is going on with my Transplant I didn't get time to post about Daisy , the Tuesday before we left to come to Sydney we took her to the vet as she wasn't her self she had kidney failure and the best option for her was to have her put to sleep we had 14 great years with her it was a very sad day i took her back home and she is buried in one of her favourite places in the garden when we get back home Russell will make a marker for her ...

HUGE (120 lbs.) Yellow Lab, Baron.  Got him from the pound for 60 bucks.  He was tied to the fence, with his papres stapled to his collor. Pure bred, long pedigree. The vet at the shelter said he was bred for show, and got too big, so he "became useless to the owners"... Said he was probably a 2000. dollar dog, with that kind of pedigree.  Best dog ever.  I'm going to train him to clean the house!!! I'll let ya'll know if that works :clap;

The pictures are very cute, Karol. How about Rocky? (I've heard of female pets named that!)

I did name him Rocky, so if it turns out to be a girl we'll call her Raquel! (It fits, his/her mom's name is Zsa Zsa - another sex symbol.)

Here are the first pics I took http://ihatedialysis.com/forum/index.php?topic=10293.msg113450#msg113450 and I am posting Rocky at 4 months old and again at nine months (I took the new photo yesterday.) He's a sweet little guy and I love having him around.

Rocky:
4 months - about 3 1/2 inches long
9 months - about 5 inches long

Hi, All,

Carol I have to say I am very partial to the name -
that's our little Shih Tzu boy's name!

Our Rocky (aka Mr Rocco) is black, with a white chest-
sorta looks like he is wearing a tux! Also has white feet,
giving the appearance of socks!
