Yes, that's a baby racoon.  He'd come up on our deck to try and raid the birdseed and then found a warm spot in the sun.  He actually stayed there for quite a while and Percy was just fascinated.

Cute picture of the two.
Our cat would either be chasing him or trying to play with him. Didn't say he was smart now did I :rofl;

Gemma - the tucker monster

« Reply #1353 on: December 17, 2008, 04:31:06 PM »

Here are a couple of shots of my darling girl - Gemma - she is a real "tucker" monster.  As soon as she gets a chance she visits the neighbours, sits at their door, barks once (have trained her to bark once for yes and twice for no).  Old Vic opens his door and lets her in whereas she walks inside and sits on the lounge with him and his tiny chihuahua and cat and of course gets a feed too.  She stays for about half an hour then goes over the road to old Alby and does the same bloody thing - sits at the door, barks once and waits.  Alby gives her a feed too and lets her inside to play with his budgie.
Thank goodness Gemma is well trained - has grown up with rabbits, cockateils, budgies - but when it comes to cats and rats she is feral.  She is out to kill - can't control her.
Anyway she is my baby as I haven't any children and she has out lived all my other pets.  What a bugger that her liver has failed but she is confortable at the moment and seems to be in good spirits.

Gemma reminds me of my old dog Daisy , she does the rounds of the neighbours ( when she was alive had to be put to sleep at 14) and they let her in and also feed her had to ask them to stop feeding her as she got too fat ,the neighbours miss her as much as we do

funny that mate
My other half and I commented about Daisy and Gemma a couple of weeks ago when we saw your avatar.  Bully/staffy cross is a great breed - just big sooky babies that are terribly faithful, loving, and very bloody cheeky.

Gemma - the tucker monster

« Reply #1362 on: December 17, 2008, 07:40:54 PM »

Gemma's 12 and loves the beach.  It's virtually impossible to get her out of the sea when it's time to go home however when it rains (it's the wet season here in the top end) she sticks her head in the corner and won't go outside.  Now she's got the liver issue and I've been at home she follows me everywhere - can't have a shower or go to the loo without her beautiful brown eyes checking me out  ;D No she isn't allowed in the bedroom to watch hanky panky  :rofl;
The rain has made it pretty cool here the last couple of days 29 celcius instead of the humid 34 c - so Gemma is a lot more comfortable until the bloody thumderstorms.

My dad has been writing real letters (not emails!!) to my son lately, telling him about me as a kid, the early days of him and grammie being married, that kind of thing. The letter he got yesterday was about pets our family has had over the past 40 years of mom and dad's marriage, complete with pictures. It was really fun for me to see pictures of those pets again.

This is such a sweet idea.  My father would never do this because he is so unhappy about getting older, just can't deal with it (he has a wife who is only two years older than me...).  My mom sometimes writes me letters reminiscing about when I was young.  I treasure those.

JP - love the Santa Bucky!

Kit - You have lighthouses on your bed!  :)
