Ooooooh Daisy is just gorgeous! What is she, part bully, part staffy?

I remember a locust plague we had in my home town (Mildura) about 1984. My sister and I were primary school age, and we used to run through the park swinging a tennis racket back and forth just to hear the little things go "ping" left, right and centre. Country kids can be strange.  :D

Daisy looks like a cool (but mean) dog, what kind is she?  and what are locusts, i just seen Hillary Swank talk about her new movie "the Realm" or something like that where she said people that raise Locusts lent them to them for her movie.  that to me is strange  ::)

We brought Daisy as a staffy but i think she has bully in her too She's s got a  great personality, She will be 14 this year.

Susie Not sure how to explain Locusts , grass hoppers is another name They eat any thing in there path we had no lawn left when they left they ate it to bare dirt.

Well I decided I'd like to get some updated photos of me and my dogs before the operation, so I had my husband take some on Good Friday. I'll attach one here - the larger bully on the left is Dorothy, the smaller one is Chloe. (Dorothy is also in my avatar, that was her as a puppy!)

I don't know, the only pit bull I ever owned was a cross breed (part bull terrier). I notice that pups of many breeds go for exorbitant prices in the US and I've never been able to get an understandable explanation for this, either. E.g. a bull terrier pup (such as Dorothy, in my photo on the previous page) sells for around $AU900, or a miniature bull terrier (same thing, but smaller) might sell for up to $1,500. Yet I frequently hear of people paying $US2,000 - a huge amount! Even poorly bred dogs go for high amounts (e.g. puppy farm-bred - I think you call them "puppy mills" there).

As for pit bulls,  presuming you mean pure bred American pit bull terriers, I can only assume that the reason they are so expensive is because of the amount of breed specific laws which have reduced legitimate breeding, and even outlawed it in many places. Most states of Australia have banned the breeding/ selling/ giving away of APBTs, and I'm aware a number of places around the world have done the same.

If only legislators would concentrate their efforts on trying to make ALL dog owners responsible, instead of attacking specific breeds.  ::) Anyway, you don't wanna get me started on that topic.

I have an American Pitbull Terrier. He's the greatest dog but it takes alot of responsibility to own one! I think the reason people put such a high price on these dogs is because of their reputation. They feel that anyone who wants one will pay whatever the price to get it. It doesn't mean the dog will be well bred. It doesn't mean it'll have good temperment. It does mean that the breeder will breed another litter IF they can get that kind of money for it. Reputable breeders will ask more because they KNOW what goes into their dogs. I hope the high price will keep the dog out of the wrong hands. Here in Ontario a ban was just passed - no more new pitbulls, no more adoptions, no more anything. One slip up and the dog is dead. Saddest thing is these are the most abused dogs, usually because they belong to the wrong people. Anyway, we got Petey for $75 from a shelter because no one else wanted him.

It's funny about their reputation because the two that I have met have been nothing but playful and friendly.

That's because friendly (with people) is their basic nature, contrary to what the media will tell you.

Exactly.  The animals thats are considered dangerous really aren't any worse than others.  The may be a little rough by breeding, but it's all how the owners treat them and train them that dictates their attitudes.

She is sweet looking!  I think I am going to stick with Marley, only with a slight twist and go with Miss Marley.  You can call her your sweet little M&M!  Whatever name you decide, I'm simply happy for you goofy!
