I love surprises!  I was the kid that never looked for my presents, never begged to open "just one" early.  I hated opening gifts on Christmas Eve.  So, my secret santa package will go under the tree and stay there until Christmas morning.  We take a long time to open everything; one at a time, each person oohing and aweing before the next gift is opened.

I do like the regional items idea.  Fun to have something from the givers area.   Not hard to come up with an idea for me-----just look at my screen name!!

I just went back through some of last year's thread.  What a hoot.  One thing I can say for Okarol right now is mail your packages early! ;D

Is there a "gifts should be mailed no sooner or no later than rule"?  ie.  Dec. 1st - Dec. 20th.   Or can we send them whenever as long as they arrive before Dec. 25th?

  :christmastree; 2008 Holiday Gift Exchange   :christmastree;

Attention: Members with less than 50 posts must be approved before you are allowed to participate.

Here are the details:

--- This is a "Secret Santa" type of exchange.  I will randomly draw names to assign people. You will not know who is sending you a gift. You will only know who you are sending to (you can identify yourself in the package.)

--- Gift(s) value should be around $10.00-20.00, but no less than $10.00 (USD - sorry don't know the exchanges for different currency).  As far as what the gift should be, that's up to you.    You may want to research your person's posts to try to get an idea of what they may like.

--- You must sign up by PM'ing your info NO LATER THAN October 20th. To be included on the Holiday Exchange list you must send me your snail mail address.

--- Names will be drawn and announced (by PM) on November 1st.

--- Gifts must be mailed out NO LATER THAN November 21st, and sooner if you are sending overseas.

If you want to participate, please PM okarol your info.  We will have copies of all the mailing addresses, and of course whoever is sending you a gift will have your address, but it will not be posted publicly.

Please use this format in the PM:
   Screen name
   Real name (first and last)
   Complete mailing address
If you are willing to sending a gift overseas (it may cost a little extra for shipping)
Outside of the US must have a phone number.

We will post a final list of who is participating as we receive the information.

If you sign up for the exchange and fail to send a gift you will be banned from IHD for 90 days.

If you have any questions, please post in this thread or PM okarol.

I can hardly wait...so, I've re-read this thread several times.  It just occurred to me that I haven't put my likes/dislikes down yet.  So, for the person who gets my name...

I want something from your area/region...I don't care what it is, just something from where you live (postcards, pictures, refrigerator magnets, keychain, book, tree ornament, etc.).  I'd also like for my secret "Santa" to tell me about the place they live (if it's not too much to ask you to write something).  I'm pretty easy to please and love to get surprises.

Hey Petey, If I get you I will have an easy time!  Postcards or North Carolina, maybe some peanuts, pinecones, a tshirt that says "if God isn't a Tarheel, then why is the sky Carolina Blue?".  (Sorry Marvin!!)  :rofl;    And I could write about this lovely state I live in!  :clap;   In case someone doesn't know, Petey and I live in the same state!

Seriously, I can't wait to get my Secret Santa name.   If I do get Petey, I might just have to deliver it myself!  It could be quicker than the mail!
