Vomitting?

OMG, holy cow, I guess it wasn't my liver after all.  I felt like crap every other days if I didn't get a good night of sleep.  Nausea and vommiting were the 2 common symptoms.  Drs. and nurses didn't tell me at all.  This is why I love IHD site so much.

So BARF on the next person who tells you that it is not a symptom of dialysis.

Vomiting not part of it? We carry plastic bags with us everywhere and have become quite accomplished at vomiting in public places very discreetly  (quite some claim to fame, huh?)

Between the rapid blood pressure changes, dirty blood just prior to dialysis, gastroparesis (from diabetes) and the latest, greatest - vomiting triggered by coughing due to allergies, vomiting has become a part of (just about) everyday life.

Yeah, yeah, yeah - and iron injections never make anyone feel bad, and epo doesn't have any side effects, and dialysis sessions will "make you feel a little bit tired".  If dialysis doesn't make people vomit, why does my center use such a steady supply of barf bags?  I'm throwing up less and less these days, now that I'm on home hemo and am getting better dialysis.  I can also control my fluid goals during dialysis myself, so as soon as my bp starts to drop even a little, I can slow down or stop the fluid coming off.  A dropping blood pressure makes me queasy every time.

Vomiting is another "Tinkerbell" symptom.  If the doc doesn't believe in it, he's sure it doesn't exist.

Hmmm,so that is why the nurse always asks me if I was naucious or had vomited. She always seems a little surprised when I say no to both. Havn't been at all sick on hemo but was always sick on my stomach while on pd.  Just smelling food while I cooked it would make me sick,but even then ,I did not vomit. I often say you could shove a plumbers helper down my throat and I still would't puke!

Your totally opposite of myself. While I was on hemo, I felt horrible everyday basically... always sick, didn't really want to eat... I felt like hemo was death.. or least as close as I wanted to be to it without actually being it. But for PD for me, it was awesome... totally the closest to feeling like a transplant but wasn't...

Just goes to show you how different every person is on dialysis.

I find that if I overeat I feel real full and get sick.
I have lost weight, maybe my stomach has shrunk.
I do better eating smaller meals more often.

I think most people's stomaches shrink on dialysis, if even only a a very tiny bit... b/c the fact remains you DO eat less on dialysis...

I'm kind of a rare case as far as the whole puke thing goes. Although I feel nauseous occasionally (sometimes VERY badly), I've only actually puked once since I got sick, and that was my very first day in the hospital when I still thought that all I had was a bad stomach flu.

The only time Rob vomitted was right before dialysis and about 2 months ago when he had dialysis issues.  All the toxin build up made him so sick.  Other than that, he has never felt sick on dialysis.  He actually feels really good, although not as good as a new kidney would make him feel.  But,  I am just happy he feels fine.

 Christ I wish mine would shrink. I'm fed up of looking like I'm pregnant!

Before  I started dialysis, i used to be sick every morning, haven't been sick really since startin it

If you miss a session or multiple sessions you are bound to feel ill or vomit due to urea levels rising. When I was on PD I threw up every single morning multiple times and then sometimes during the night. It wasnt until I got my failed transplanted kidney removed and started hemo that I stopped vomiting.

If I missed a session or sessions I felt lousy all over.  The subject of this thread never happened though either before, during, or after dialysis.  BTW:Tamara, you look great!
