Friends of IHD, i just recently spoke with Kitkatz, she is being admitted to the hospital with chest pains, she hadn't been feeling right all week and she went in yesterday to Urgent Care and they sent her to ER and ER said they are going to admit her. She has done a stress test but has not gotten the results. Please,
let us all pray that they find what is wrong and fix it then hopefully she will be out before Christmas :santahat; :2thumbsup;

I only jumped on briefly last night and completely missed this thread! Kit, I'm so glad you're home and it was nothing serious! Please TRY to relax and take it easy for awhile. I know, much easier said than done. We're with ya! :grouphug;
-
Sorry, haven't been here for a couple days. I hope they find something that was affecting you Kitkatz and hope you won't feel that way again.
Take Care
-
Glad you are back home Kitkatz and that the tests were negative. I had a similar incident a few years ago (pre-dialysis) I was certain I was having a heart attack because the chest pain was so bad. But all the tests turned out negative (Isn't it such a relief when they tell you that) and touch wood I've never had it since.
Just take it easy :cuddle;
-
Glad you are home KitKatz! Feel better and get some rest.
-
I am off to work this morning. Got to go earn those "big bucks" as the hubby says. I realize I am completely crazy, but I promise to take it easy. The doc would not give an off work order based on negative tests.
-
Wow I haven't been on this weekend since I had lots of running around to do so I missed this thread. I am sorry to hear you were so bad that you had to go to the hospital and that you had to be admitted, but glad you were kept over for tests rather than being pushed out the door. Also glad to hear that you seem to be doing better, but going to work.... The doctor should have given you a day off. Just to help ward off any potential problems :grouphug; :grouphug; :grouphug; :grouphug;
-
Hi Kit :cuddle; Go slow through this week and then when Christmas break starts--you quit doing and just start resting. We are all so worried about you. Glad you are home, but please take care. Love you!
-
I don't have computer access on the weekends and was horrified to learn this morning that you were hospitalized, then relieved to hear you're ok. Please take it easy!
-
glad to hear that you are home. that will teach me to miss a weekend.
-
Get well and Join us again.
-
Oh Kit, so sorry to hear about your scare! So glad the tests came back negative. I hope you feel better soon, take care! :cuddle;
-
Whew, I'm so glad the tests were negative. Now I want to echo everyone else saying... REST! Do you know what the word means? I think it's in the dictionary. ;)
-
WEST? Go west? I am in California, how much more west do you want?
-
I also missed this thread, Kit. Glad you're back home.
When Susie mentioned you were doing a stress test, I assume she meant cardiac, i.e. on the treadmill? I am now working in a cardiology clinic where we perform stress tests, amongst other things, and we all found this amusing enough to show it at our recent Xmas dinner - hope you enjoy it too (if you haven't seen it already, 'cause it is pretty old).

-
My computer is on the blink (AGAIN!) so I only just saw that you were home, Kitkatz! Seems we can't tell you to rest, so we will just say 'take it easy'. I am so happy that your tests turned out fine. Hope everything continues to go well. My caring thoughts and prayers are continually with you.
-
How in God's name did I miss this thread until today??!! Kitkatz, I'm so glad you're home and feeling better! :cuddle; :cuddle;
-
how much more west do you want?
If you have to go to work you have to go to work, but I'm sure the west of the folks at IHD would agree that a westful weekend would be good, perhaps watching reruns of The Young and the Westless.

Shhh! Be vewy vewy quiet... so KitKatz can west!!
-
Dang, get busy a few days and wow, I missed this! So sorry about your event, glad you are feeling better. Take it slow!! R&R! :angel;
-
:cuddle;
yay-I am glad all was ok!!
Take it easy and happy holidays!

Oh yeah. Ithas been real fun. They sent me home with chest pain and a bottle of nitro. The nitro helps a little, but the chest pressure is still there. I am going back into urgent care/er on Friday if this still sucks.

Are you getting some time off from the school on christmas break? Please don't over do things until you are confident that your ok. Something is causing that pressure feeling. I'm in the same boat. I get that also and have had stress tests and ultrasounds and they say everything is fine.
-
I'm worried about both of you. Chest pain is SCARY! One of the dogs I'm keeping this week belongs to a client that went to the ER a few days ago with chest pain. He's had surgery - replaced a valve and something else - maybe bypass or stent. I didn't delay his wife when she dropped off the dog. Stay on the docs to take care of you!
-
Please don't wait til Friday, Kit. Now that Christmas is over, please, have it checked out. Who knows what it could be.
I agree with Black, chest pain IS scary. And darn it, Sluff. Now YOU'RE scaring us too!!!
-

I agree with Black, chest pain IS scary. And darn it, Sluff. Now YOU'RE scaring us too!!!
Don't worry about me I've had it checked over many times. They tell me it is skeletal. (whatever that means) ( probably Fat and out of shape) ha
-
Skeletal???? That's a new one on me!!! Just so long as the doctors (and you!) are happy that it's nothing to be worried about.....
-
They sent me home with chest pain and a bottle of nitro. The nitro helps a little, but the chest pressure is still there.
Oh Kit, this is too much! You have enough on your plate already. I've got all my digits crossed that it just goes away and never comes back. Let us know.
-

Did you mean wewuns? ;)
-
Skeletal???? That's a new one on me!!! Just so long as the doctors (and you!) are happy that it's nothing to be worried about.....
they probably mean musculoskeletal (involving muscle and bone). Many of the patients who are referred to our cardiology clinic with chest pains are checked out, and the conclusion is that the pains are musculoskeletal rather than cardiac. It's actually a good thing, really! Well, it's not good that you have pain, but it's good news to hear that it's not cardiac. That's why these things need to be checked out so quickly.
-
the last thread was 27th, it's 30th over here, how's Kitkatz? I pray you are good and fine to welcome the new year. I am just surprised that everytime we (me & hubby) have our wednesday novena to our Mother of Perpetual Help, I always say a prayer to the whole IHD family in general, but last wednesday, I specially mention Kitkatz, and I haven't read this thread until now. Kitkatz, come'on, you are needed here, we love you.

I am okay. Run down and tired all of the time.

Put your feet up at take it easy Katz. Hope you are better soon.

I had chest pain at dialysis today and they sent me to Kaiser ER to be checked out. Victor (hubby) took me to the ER. They say there is nothing wrong. They don't know why I am having chest pains. They must think I am psycho!
-
That must be so scary AND frustrating Kit - what now???
:grouphug;

We already know that.. :rofl;.. I think you passed psycho a long time ago Kit. So do they have any suggestions at all? I know this has to be awfully stressful on you.
-
Sorry you keep having chest pains.Hope they can figure something out soon!
-
:grouphug; Hugs Kit.
Have they done all the tests? Are they suggesting it's stress related? You have been under a lot of stress lately. (To put it mildly ::) ) I am sure your body can only take so much before it screams "Give me a break!!"
Can you take some time off work? I know that might not be so easy. So what about another long weekend away with Victor.
Either way Kit you need a rest. :cuddle;
-
Hey Kitkatz, have they done an angiogram? When mom had her chest pains she said it felt heavy across her chest and she felt sharp pains in both her arms. She was short of breath and sweaty. On a separate but related note, mom's PCP told her that he had another patient that had the same overall redness and itching that she did only this person got it after being home for a day. Doc thinks it is the dye. Mom said her nails are stronger, her hair is dryer, and now her toe is acting up - skin getting thicker and tender. From what I've read of allergy to the dye, it affects more than what you can see.
If you haven't had an angiogram and you get pains again, can you make them do one? It's one thing to give you nitro ( to probably protect them as well as you), but I'm sure you agree that the cause needs to be discovered soon. take care Kitkatz
-
A few years ago I was rushed to hospital with chest pains which was at first diagnosed as pericarditis which is inflammation of the sack which surrounds the heart. It finally turned out to be musco-skeletal. It was actually inflammation of rib cartilages. The pain however was horrendous and I was sure It was a heart attack at the time.
-
Hope it resolves soon so you will feel better.
-
Kit, it doesn't matter whether they think you are phycho or not. You just keep going, when you have the
pain, and keep insisting they find out what is causing it. :boxing;. Tho it may very well be tiredness and stress,
you need to make sure. You are in my prayers.
Mimi
-
Kitkatz, you must fight your way, the doctor does not know everything, you're the one who knows your body so well. Insist, insist, insist on more test. Please. We are here all te way for you. :grouphug;
-
I got it. Kit come to Wisconsin to visit your daughter and Christy and I will show you a nice relaxing and fun vacation, we can visit Boxman also.
-
Is the first week in March soon enough? My daughter turns 21 in april and wants me to come out in March.
-
Is the first week in March soon enough? My daughter turns 21 in april and wants me to come out in March.
Absolutely.
-
I went from school this morning to a quick trip through Kaiser ER with more chest pain. The ER doctor seems to think it was something other than the heart so he blew me off and out of there in an hour and a half. Little concern that the chest pain I had this morning lasted over an hour. I had walked back to my classroom from the office and got hit with it while I was at my desk. I took a nitro and in five minutes took another one, then took one more ten minutes later. I went ahead and started class, then called my VP and said "I have chest pain I need someone to take my class." She had security there in one minute and had them bring me to the office and I decided a run to the ER would be good. One of our security people ran me to Kaiser and my VP came and got me when it was done. She sent me home, otherwise I would be at school right now teaching classes. This is nuts. Something is going haywire in my body and no one knows what it is!
-
I know that feeling and I hate it >:(
I try to have as much contact with my medical team to have as many tests as possible, and to have contact with as many people as possible for a better chance of someone figuring it out. It's a real pain when we have copays for every contact ::)
I hope you feel better soon!
-
Wish you success in finding out what it is. Bonehead Doctors sometimes. Get another opinion.
-
My mom's heart doctor told her that if she had to take three nitros to call him and get to the hospital. I haven't done much research into nitro pills, but you would think the doctors would be very concerned if you had to take that many. Is the pain the same as you've had before?
On the other end of the spectrum, my BIL in Florida had a stress test done and they said they'd have results in 10 days. 10 MINUTES later they called him and said they wanted him to come right back for an mri because there was an abnormality. They found nothing and then discovered that someone read the test wrong! Scared my family! My mom says, 'hope he doesn't have to pay for that mri.'
-
Sorry to hear you are having problems again. MD's are never about finding the cause of a problem, only ways of masking it w/drugs. Drugs that cause other problems with their side effects. Go visit a good princilped chiropractor who will get your nervous system clear so your body can do what it's meant to to the best of it's ability.
-
:grouphug; for you
:boxing; for the doctors who won't listen to you!
-
:( Sorry Kit, I wish they had some answers to give you. It's baffling that the doctors can't give you some idea what is causing this. I am glad to hear your school VP took quick action. Get some rest my friend.
:cuddle;
-
:grouphug;
Hope they get you some answers soon, kit.
-
Man, Kit.
I'd say it's time to see another doctor, if he can't figure out what's wrong with you!!!
That or bring out the stick.....
-
Sorry to hear that you are going through this Kit and for such a long time! Along with the others, I have been taken to the ER (In December also) for chest pains. Sometimes once a day, sometimes up to seven at a time. They were debilitating and I told the doctors so. Well, they did the usual tests and everything came out negative so out I went with no diagnosis no nothing. Although I did go back to my neph who put me on Valium as he thought it was stress related.
I had continued to have smaller attacks after that but I do have to say the chest pain themselves are gone. I just now have some shortness of breath while doing small things. Maybe it was stress - not sure. But it is best if you get EVERYTHING checked out. Musculo-skeletal (sp?), lungs, etc.
Where is House when you need him??
-
Kitkatz,this is crazy! Have they exhausted all tests for heart problems? I don't understand how they can just let you walk around without finding a solution. This makes no sense. Are you limited to what doctors you see? I am so frustrated for you. Can't you just deal with one problem? OK---my anger probably isn't helping! Love you and want them to find an answer to this pain :cuddle; :cuddle; :cuddle;
-
Kit, there are many things that can mimic heart problems. Have they looked into anything other than the heart?
If it is not the heart, they should be looking elsewhere. I'm praying for you.
Love, Mimi
-
Thanks to everyone. I thought this morning's doctor blew me off. I am going to call my primary and let him know I was in ER for hour long chest pain.
-
:cuddle; :cuddle; :cuddle; :cuddle; :cuddle; :cuddle; I hope they can figure it out Kit. :boxing; :boxing; Until they do!!
-
Kitkatz, I hope your primary doctor has an answer for you. Sorry, to hear you are going through the pain and frustration again. :cuddle;
-
Hope it will be sorted soon, it makes you wonder if we really are living in the 21st century when it takes so long for a diagnosis to be made. We are all thinking of you :grouphug;
-
Sheesh, I hope they soon find out what the pain is from Kitkatz, so sorry you have to suffer :grouphug;
-
So sorry to hear of your dilemma with the unresolved chest pains It must be a pain in the a** to keep going back to the ER and not finding the cause of your pain.
Hope that the can help you out soon and sending you my thoughts and prayers.
Joannie
-
:grouphug;
Hurry up and give Kitkatz the answer to this real quick please ! Enough is Enough !
:cuddle;
-
It's hard enough dealing with ESRD without having heart pain on top of it. It's hard enough having ESRD *and* heart pain, without having to keep on kicking docs to get some explanation. I so hope your primary has some ideas of what to do next, and will keep on until it's figured out. Thinking of you Kit and hoping you get some answers soon (and that they are all good too!)
-
hope they can work out whats going on soon kit :cuddle;
-
At least work was great about it. I think I put the fear of God in them yesterday. The VP teased me and said I had too much Superbowl and wanted to go finish my beer yesterday. Oh I wish.
-
I hope you are feeling better today.
-
:cuddle; Thinking of you KitKatz :cuddle;
-
Kit when you took the nitro did they take the pain away? or did the pain go away on it's own? I supposed thats a difficult question to answer but if the nitro took the pain away then my guess is it would be heart related. Do you get any other symptoms associated with the pain? They keep telling me mine is muscular skeletal and gave me some muscle relaxers, (cyclobenzaprine). They have helped some, but make me thirsty and sleepy.
-
Prayers that they get to the bottom of this very quickly! :cuddle;
-

Yeah it is kind of hard to tell. But the nitro seems to take the pain away. The last episode lasted for an hour and I took three nitro pills. Then it started to go away. But was it then nitro, I do not really know. I have pain in the muscles on the right side of my rib cage, but this was pain from the inside out located in the middle of my chest. This time it went down my right arm right into the fingers. Scared me that it would not go away. At Kaiser it was finally going away after three nitro pills.
-
It is kind of scary when you can't pin point what that is because of the typical signs of heart attack. There is an enzyme test they can check in your labs to see if there is damage to your heart, assuming that is the first thing the did it's a tough thing to figure out. Good luck and I hope they get to the bottom of it before it's too late. :grouphug;
-
Kitkatz I do hope they get to the bottom of this :cuddle;
-
It's especially worrisome since symptoms of a heart attack in a woman are sometimes very different than the "usual" signs that they talk about all the time in the media. Kit, please keep after them for answers!
-
:rant; :rant;
I was seen by a new Nephrologist instead of my usual doctor. God almighty! Doctors are dumb. Read the damn chart will ya! He asks me if I have been seen for transplant. We all know that story, but he cannot find the surgeon's report on the damned computer. Then home hemo came up and WE all know the story about that! Damn it. But he did call the home hemo clinic and say hey what is going on? I am not quitting work for six weeks. They have to be crazy! The home hemo people called today. I TOLD them I work for a living. Sheez! Yes, I am just sitting around waiting for them to call. I have a life folks!
Anyway I could have called this appointment in. Why don't they just do it at the dialysis center instead of dragging me into the office! :rant; :rant;
-
Unfortunately kitkatz, they just want more money. Makes me sick. :banghead;
-
Sorry to hear you are still having trouble with this! Can't your social worker help you in any way?
-
Get your big stick out and start swatting. >:(
