Is there a way that I, as a user, can block the politics forum so that I don't have to see it?

I don't know about blocking it, but you can use the "Mark as Read" button easily enough.  When you sign in, use the "Unread posts" button.  After you've selected and read every post you are interested in, just hit "mark as read" for the rest.

"Asbestos Gelos"  (As-bes-tos yay-lohs) Greek. Literally, "fireproof laughter".  A term used by Homer for invincible laughter in the face of death and mortality.

We created a separate area from "talk about anything you want" so members could skip that subject if they want.

Go to that section and mark as read and then they won't show up as new posts until someone posts there. You then won't have to read through it at all.
