CAPD & Camping

Heph & I are off camping for a week next week and won't have access to an electricity supply while we are away. We have read that it is possible to heat the dialysate bags with hot water bottles, but were wondering if anyone has any other tips or ideas, tried & tested or new & unusual! Also, has anyone else tried camping on CAPD & got any other tips for survival.

They have those new car containers you can plug into the cigarette lighter and  keeps things hot or cold.  I bought one for the hubby years ago, but do not know if he ever used it in his travels.

You could always just put a pot of water on the fire, warm it up, and then put the bags into the warm water...(Im not on PD so I dont know if thats acceptable or not), and then just let them sit until they warm up.

A camping we will go, a camping we will go, hi ho the derry o a camping we will go,,,, how fun,  have a great time,  they told me if it is warm out just put some bags on your car and let the sun hit them, but if it is too hot, dont leave them out there for too long,  good luck and HAVE A GREAT TIME.....

When I was on CAPD we used to go camping. All I did to warm  the bags was two hot water bottles the CAPD in the middle rapped with towels. It keeps the bag warm for hours.

I don't think your allowed to put them in hot water due to hygienic reasons or something. I remember this mentioned when I was on PD. I found the best way to do it was to leave the unopened bags in the sun for an hour or so until warm. I used to stick my 4-6 bags outside for the day, then use them as needed. I did have a heater but in summer here I didn't need it, just a bit of sun was enough, or just the heat of being inside.
Hope you have a great trip. That is one of the joys of PD, you can travel! I used to take my cycler with me, but it wasnt too keen on the bumpy ride. So I found it easier just to do manual bags if I went anywhere.
