Anyone Else Experience This ?

I was at the mall today and I had a bad day. I felt as though my legs were cement blocks. They felt so " heavy" when I was walking. I was extremely tired and I stopped to rest quite often. I've been noticing lately more trouble walking uphill. Today, was a little scary. Anyone else experience this? I thought it might possibly be low blood sugar so I ate and it didn't help. Any thoughts? Thanks.

That is what i feel like everyday.  Sounds to me like you are losing (or have lost) muscle in your legs and they just cant do what they used to (at least that is MY story and i am stickin' to it)

This happened to me just this weekend, but it was not so much my legs but my arms.  They felt like they weighed 50 lbs each and I could barely hold my purse.  Plus my stomach felt extremely empty, but I wasn't really hungry.  I felt terrible!!!!  Actally, I felt weird.

May be potassium imbalance, which can be serious.  Call your neph or your dialysis nurse and tell them your symptoms.  If it were my husband and the muscle weakness got worse we would go to the ER.

I get the same thing sometimes and it feels like my right leg is about to give out. I think the same thing about the low blood sugar so I do the same thing.(eat)

I'm not sure what causes this either but I still have fairly good kidney function so I don't think the problem is caused by renal disease in it self. I wonder if it could have something to do with medications? I'm guessing here.

I call those "walking under water" days.  I got mine when my hemoglobin was below 10.  Any blood count over 10 or 11 and they go away for me.

It could also be fluid gathering on your legs. When i am on my feet all day they go like this and its because all the fluid has traveled down to them. If you sit with them up for a while the fluid goes to other parts and your legs dont feel heavy again . Check them out for fluid on them!

It's interesting you mention this because I have momentary dizzy spells when I'm out shopping and my vision blacks out momentarily.  I just stop for a few moments and it returns.  I don't know if it's too warm in the stores or I'm shopping too soon after a treatment, but it happens all the time.  It's sad, but I've gotten used to it.  Fortunately I haven't fully blacked out yet.

i've also experienced this.  it felt like every muscle in my body didn't want to work.  it was as if my muscles couldn't hold my body up.  this happened about 2 or 3 times a week.  it didn't matter if i had nothing to eat or i had already ate, it struck out of the blue.sometimes it would happen before dialysis sometimes after dialysis.  it was scary.  i told all the docs and they didnt know what it was.  i asked the dietitian she didn't know.  it went away after the transplant.  it definatley has something to do with dialysis.  i'm really interested in knowing what it was that made me feel that way.

I discussed this issue with my nephrologist. He said my symptoms are most likely due to renal acidosis and low ferritin. He increased the dose on my Cytra 2. Thank you for your input. I'm so grateful for IHD. I know there are people who REALLY know what I'm going through and care how I feel.

When i was in Arizona we went to a town called sedona. There was a chapel in the mountains where you had to get to walking along a spiral road. I only made it a few feet when my legs felt cement. I had this happen a few times to me walking up a hill. Walking down or straight doesn't seem to bother me.
