Help with locating buttonhole photos

Somewhere I saw some great photos of someone's buttonholes.  I've searched but cannot locate.  Can someone point me in the right direction?  I met a new friend and he had been doing dialysis with a chest cath. and a week or so ago he started using his AV fistula.  His poor arm is almost black from bruising (he's 76-years-old).  I already sent him information on the buttonhole tech.  Now I would like to show him what they look like.

Charee, I noticed you have your fistula in your upper arm.  I'm going in tomorrow morning to get mine in my upper arm as well.   My wrist one isn't working.

Can you tell me about the pain and the healing process in the elbow?  That seems like a difficult place with all the bending and such.  Also, did you have problems sleeping?  Keeping it straight I mean.

my wrist one didn't work either, the pains not too bad, make sure on the trip home from hospital take a pillow to rest it on i took one everywhere sleeping was abit hard not rolling on it in my sleep but i slept with it on a pillow for the first few week the pain lasted about 2 weeks i got alot of bruising which i think looked worst than it felt   good luck with yours

Its actually called buttonhole. Here in Australia its fairly new i think about 3 years , in Europe its been around alot longer not sure about the USA ,Its been great for me as i have a small fistula so going in the same hole each time is good, they start off by going in the same holes with a sharp needle to make a tunnel making sure thats its in the same place and same angle each time after about 6 times you use a blunt needle I have been doing it since April and its only in the last few weeks that things have gone to plan. Hope i haven't confused you as I'm not very good at explaining things.

From what I've read about it, not every center is knowledgeable about this technique, so beware!

I still have to look it up, but it would seem less painful than the typical needle insertion. I like reading about medical procedures, techniques, and so forth, so hopefully I can find something so I can understand how they do this without the holes healing back up. Rather have this than this darn graft that bugs the he** out me if it needs to be used again.

The buttonhole is the same healing process as pierced ears, kind of a tunnel heals for the needles to go through.  It really is a great alternative.

Never had a piercing and don't plan to either, just not that type of guy who's into piercings.
Since I am in between classes, I found one website that when you read about and look at the graphics, you just want to cringe. I understand it more, but do not fully understand the tunneling yet. I think I have it figured out, but need more information. Plus it might have helped if I had a piercing to understand it a little bit better, but no way am I going there to understand something.

I wouldn't compare it to a piercing! When you pierce a body part, the hole comes out the other side of that part, i.e. the ear. With the buttonhole, you have a hole that goes into your body that does not go all the way through. It doesn't come out the other side of your arm.

Sorry--that is how the neph explained the healing of the skin. Otherwise, you would be piercing the skin each time you did a stick and then why would you bother having a buttonhole?  It creates a tunnel that the needle can slide through.  Comparing it was just a quick visual to understand how the skin heals.

when i was in training thats how my trainer explained it also she compared it to an earing tunnel to help us understand the process.

chris, search for buttonhole and find the one's created by epoman.  maybe someone will show you the way.  i just had my surgery and am typing w/ one hand at the moment.  good luck!
