Just wondering if anyone has benadryl on their list of medications at dialysis? Last night I was itchy and they gave me some benadryl which was awesome lol!

Benadryl is our wonder drug. I love that stuff! It helps with the itchies, but it also relaxes you and lets you sleep. It does me, anyway!

You dont need a prescription, it is an over the counter drug and that is what they tell you to get for if/when you get the itchies  :2thumbsup;  Your neph can easily put in on your chart so you can get it upon request.  (i used it to knock me out) and it worked  :bandance;

I use it for my allergies and have actually been given a dosage of 250 mg IV in a hospital ER after having an adverse reaction to a muscle relaxer!  I slept for days after that!  Normally one tablet doesn't make me drowsy but two will for a short period of time.  But them I take it all the time!  Around here they sell in in bottles of 100 tablets.  I have also used Benadryl cream for insect bites.  I love that stuff!

I had problems with itching for a while and used Benadryl.  It worked very well!

250 mg  :o  :urcrazy;  Oh man, i used to only get 50 and that would knock me off my keister pretty damn good, i bet you slept for days.  I have heard also if you take it on a regular basis, your body will become immune to it, not too sure how true that is, but it may be possible  :twocents;

Idk, if that's true but I take it on a regular basis as needed.  So, I do get breaks from taking it!

Benadryl is awesome, but is only helpful to me in IV form. The pills I could eat like candy... and yah, wouldn't even be a bit drowsy, I think that has to do with being on strong pain killers for many years, b/c even my Morphine pills do nothing for me anymore.  :lol;
