I'll be having surgery the 24th. on my graft. The surgery is for removal of fluid. This will be my third in 3 months. My surgeon is using a differnt procedure to hopefully prevent a recurrence. I'll be in the hospital a couple of days. Wish me luck.  |

I just received word from the hospital that my surgery may be postponed due to the fires in our area. All non-emergency surgeries are being tentatively postponed. Some hospitals in our county are being evacuated. I'll know more tomorrow........ My heart goes out to the people who are losing everything.

I hope it can be done, so you won't have to wait. However, my heart also goes out to everyone who's lives are being affected by those fires... I hope they are resolved soon. I also hope your surgery, if postponed, can be done soon, just to get it behind you. |

Thanks for the well wishes. I'll keep you posted about my surgery date. They are advising everyone that hasn't been evacuated to stay home. I can't believe the images on the news. Each fire seems to spark a new one. Thank God the winds seem to have died down. I hope it ends soon. |

-Diagnosed with ESRD (born with one kidney, hypertension killed it) Jan 21st, 2007 -Started dialysis four days later in hospital (Baxter 1550-I think, then Gambro Phoenix) -Started in-centre dialysis Feb 6th 2007 (Fres. 2008H) -Started home hemo June 5th 2007 (NxStage/Pureflow) -PD catheter placed June 6th 2008 (Bye bye NxStage, at least for now) -Started CAPD July 4th, 2008 -PD catheter removed Dec 2, 2008-PD just wouldn't work, so I'm back on NxStage -Kidney function improved enough to go off dialysis, Feb. 2011!!!!! -Back on dialysis (still NxStage) July 2011  -In-centre self-care dialysis March 2012 (Fresenius 2008K) -Not on transplant list yet.
