Would it be possible to have a section dedicated to "People of Faith", and then within that broken down into some high level categories, like Christian, Muslim, Buddusts, etc.  I hoe you get the idea.  Not broken down like "Baptist, southern Baptist, Missouri Valley Episcopal,".

I Kind of envision this to be a place where people of like or similar faiths can post what they are feeling, like you would get in your Church support group if you felt well enough to go there.  A Place that would be free of proselytizing (did I spell that right), a place where even if you didn't totally agree with what the original poster was saying, a long as they were saying it in the section appropriate for that comment (for example a poster said " there is no God other than Allah" but had it posed in the Muslim section, there would be no recourse on that post.  (Now, if that was in the Christian Section, I'd hope that the Moderators would/could move it to the right section <Grin>).  This would also be a place where we could ask for Prayer Requests (I'm sorry but I'm so unsure how other organized religions handle this, I'm notgong to try to some up with a parallel), Post about how our prayers were answered, etc.

Anyway, this is a thought.  I figured I'd toss out the idea, see what, if any, interest there was on it, and hope to see this section added some day.

Post your thoughts, please????

Thanks,

I'm  OK  with it and I agree that there would have to be some type of  sub groups for Christian / Muslim etc.   We could share our concerns and prayers and support each other.   We would understand these things much more than another church member.

In a way I disagree with some of the things your wanting... The section seems like a great idea... but how can you not have the same rules as the rest of IHD.com where everyones views are welcomed and debates and such can take place? Recourse for not having the same beliefs and saying the wrong things? That's not IHD.... If the section were added (and yes, its a great idea..) it should remain under the same rules as any other section on IHD.com. Just my  :twocents;

I think a thread can be started in Off Topic - whenever need - like what Epoman did here http://ihatedialysis.com/forum/index.php?topic=635.0 - not sure if a section is necessary  :twocents;

Since I'm new, I'm not sure what the rules are on the rest of the site, but the only reason I mentioned anything about "recourse" was because i didn't want this to be some type of section where flame wars got started or people were belittled for their beliefs.

The moderators do an excellent job of keeping things on-topic and not letting posters get out of hand.  It is the best run site I have found.  People are free to disagree and the mods keep us within certain boundaries.

there is one thing about this site- it is not the place to post if your shy about comments being made about what you say. If someone made a thread about christanity in general I might feel free to comment, and if someone made a thread about needing prayer, I would probably NOT comment, as I would have nothing to contribute, and the person was not asking for a debate, however if a debate on the effectiveness of such prayers came up, lots of people would probably comment.

Not sure what value my opinion has but I don't think a section dedicated to religion is a good idea.  A topic if someone wanted to start but if there was a section it may turn some people off (potential members mostly) due to the interpretation that this is a religious influenced site.  I don't know.....just my thought.
