my turn
sometimes i wonder just why people think they should get paid for not doing their job.
the day started at 2:30 when i got up because i couldn't sleep. i get to dialysis at 5:15 which is officially on time, they had already let people in. so i and two others who were there early stood there ringing the bell for 5 minutes. i finally called the nurses station to ask them to open the door. they actually answered the phone.
things were fairly uneventful until the tech brought by a "teaching tool" for me to sign. at least this time they didn't want to read it to me. any way, the form hasn't been updated. the old social workers name is still on the form and it talks about cleaning and reusing dialyziers and how they are labled for safety. we haven't used that type of dialyzer for several months. i refused to sign it. upset the apple cart i did.
THEN....i have had periods of getting very very hot the doctor is trying to figure out why. i have a perma-cath and they are worried about infection, so on monday they drew blood cultures. doctor came by at the end of session today and had the nurse call the lab for initial results, not wanting to prescribe antibiotics without some indication that they were necessary. guess what THE LAB LOST THE SAMPLE. so more blood and we start all over. doctor's going to talk to the surgeon, he thinks we should probably just take this cath out and put in a new one.
at anyrate i'm still super hot and we don't know why.
