KidneyTimes.com Annual Essay Contest

Essay Contest Theme for 2007:

"Aspirations for the Future, What Gives You Hope"

Compose an essay of no more than 750 words with the theme "Aspirations for the Future, What Gives You Hope."

Open only to people who have been diagnosed with chronic kidney disease.
 
Focus on a story that impacted your life: perhaps how a word of encouragement from a healthcare professional provided hope for the future or how you defied the odds to pursue a dream. You can write about a plan you have developed to reach your goals in spite of kidney disease or share how a hobby or pet keeps a smile on your face.

First Prize          $500
Second Prize     $300
Third Prize        $100

Admin for IHateDialysis 2008 - 2014, retired.
Jenna is our daughter, bad bladder damaged her kidneys.
Was on in-center hemodialysis 2003-2007.
7 yr transplant lost due to rejection.
She did PD Sept. 2013 - July 2017
Found a swap living donor using social media, friends, family.
New kidney in a paired donation swap July 26, 2017.

that's funny that you should post this one, okarol. i submitted my post/essay 'the healing of the spirit' to that site, just before i posted it here.
i don't expect to win, really, because i think they're looking for stories of kittens and puppies
and all that touchy-feely slop that i can't stomach.
my hope is that it will be useful for others, in some way.

Yes, great minds think alike. That contest is run by Lori Hatrwell's Renal Support Network that I mentioned in the other thread!

Thank you Okarol for posting this, even if we dont win, it will give us a minute to stop and think and share with others that there is hope in our lives and we are all human and with feelings and we are not all crazy :P  :urcrazy; :urcrazy;  (ok, ok, maybe i am a little) ;) ;)   Good Luck to all who enters  :popcorn;
