Going through life tied to a chair!

« on: June 26, 2007, 09:46:03 PM »

This may already be posted, but I thought it was interesting.  My dietitian handed this out today:

Soy Dream Frozen Dessert is the BEST alternative to ice-cream

Vanilla ice cream (4 ounce) is 124mg Potassium and 70-95mg Phosphorus
Rice Dream (4 ounce) is 60-120mg Potassium and 50-70 Phosphorus.
Soy Dream (4 ounce) all flavors is within 10-13mg potassium and 20-23mg phosphorus

Flavors are: Butter Pecan, Chocolate, Chocolate Fudge Brownie, French Vanilla, Green Tea, Mint Chocolate Chip, Mocha Fudge, Strawberry Swirl, Vanilla, and Vanilla Fudge Swirl.

Thanks, Rerun, I'll see if my store carries it. I sure do miss ice cream, especially since it's been so hot. Fruit sorbets are good, but sometimes I just want something creamy.

Rob showing off his pot of gold!

« Reply #5 on: June 28, 2007, 05:39:10 AM »

Rob is a huge ice cream lover, this was the hardest thing for him to lose.  On very rare occasions, he will have a scoop of ice cream followed up with a bunch of renegel.

I bought the Soy Dream for him before and he really disliked it.  I thought it was pretty tasty!

OK I talked to my dietition who I trust.  She said we can't have soy milk as it has as much K and Po4 as dairy.  But the Soy ice cream is made from soy base not soy milk.

I thought it was good.  We had strawberry toping and it was very good.
