Need all the help I can get.  After 3  years of hemo I have developed a raging rash around the 2x2 that normally covers the catheter access.  The cover has always been 4x4 Tegederm.  In the last 2 weeks I have broken out in an angry looking ITCHY red blistery rash and it is growing outwards.  My clinic has done everything they seem t be able to do with the exception of grimacing and commenting on how red it is. They are to the point of only laying the 2x2 on the catheter and barely securing it with paper tape where there is an uninvolved skin patch.  I have tried a zinc based ointment that does not seem to be doing any good and I'm afraid to try anything else.  Any advice would be appreciated.

I develope contact dermatitis from the nexcare paper tape even though its hypo allergenic.  My solution is  nexcare sensitive skin tape, it’s a bit pricey but worth it because it doesn’t make me itch. I buy it on amazon for 31 dollars for 6 rolls.

Many tapes would redden my skin.  Some caused water blisters to well up.  Some just peeled the skin off.

One of my PD Nurses started 'Painting' my skin with those Betadine wipes, let it dry before bandaging.   NO more problems!

Don't ask me why it works.  It just worked for me.

Blistery means allergy so use cortisone cream; zinc will make it worse. I also use the nexcare sensitive tape-  love it.
