Angioplasty Changes Buttonhole Track

Due to slight stenosis, my husband had another angioplasty performed on his fistula. He is getting much better flow now. But as we've come to learn and expect, the improved flow has changed the angle and depth he must use to stick his buttonhole tracks. For instance, his arterial is more shallow now, meaning that he doesn't need to go in very steep. After an angioplasty it always takes us a few treatments before we finally get it right and get use to new angles and depths. Patience is key as well as taking note of the new angles. All this can be very frustrating but getting to use a fistula and the same buttonholes is a blessing. Kudos to the vascular surgeon! Life is good, we can continue now on our merry way!

That's so interesting. I didn't end up with a fistula or graph, so I've never thought about how those things would change based on procedures and such.

Glad husband is doing well after the angioplasty! Hope you are able to hit the "sweet spot" quickly!

We have experienced the same ... after a procedure the cannulation is just a little different.

I got a graph after my last fistulagram.   The vascular surgeon drew it on my arm with a sharpie to show me where a "no puncture" zone was near a bifurcation.
