The no no sleeve

I discovered and ordered this neat little sleeve and wanted to share. I have such a time with nurses trying to take BP or draw blood from Frank's fistula arm. They do this even when there's a huge sign over his bed warning them away from that arm. (I've even had ER and floor nurses ask, "What's it for?" in reference to his fistula, but that's another story...)anyway, I thought this little sleeve was neat and thought I'd sure, although I'm sure some of you have seen it or already have one. It was about $9 with shipping.

Funny to use the name. In the children's hospital, a No No is a wrap that goes around an IV so that the child can't pull at it.

How does it attach? Is it on velcro?

It is literally a sleeve. It slips right over your arm. It comes in regular and larger size.

Looks like a much better idea than the surgical tape I wrote on and taped to my husband's arm. I think anything that will stand out and draw attention to the fistula sort of forces hospital staff to stop, look and listen. The no-no sleeve probably accomplishes that.

Every time I am hospitalized ,I remind them when they are putting on arm bands and they get a red one and place it loosely on my fistula wrist.  After this no one tries to use arm for bp or blood draws.  Thought this was standard.

I've seen a "restricted extremity" wristband used for this purpose.

Great idea!!!!!  Been going to the same Physician since I started Dialysis; almost 5 years ago; go see him every other month; you'd think that his nurse (same nurse too) would be wise to that by now; everytime they do BP or lab draws; I have to tell them NO!  other arm!  I have a Fistula there!!!!!  The doctor too; he always says "oh you have a Fistula; are you still on Dialysis?".....duh....!  No, I only do it when I want to....!
