 :sos;My wife is suffering with severe pain due to neuropathy. Has anyone been or is now being treated for this and are you seeing any relief.  She is currently on oxy. They suggested home care but she doesn't want another intrusion in her life.

Sorry to hear this.
I have been there and wept in frustration at night when I couldn't stand the pain...
Amytrptyline (an anti-depressant but works on nerves too) did help me a lot and is worth trying.

10 years of half a life
3 years HD 1st transplant Feb 08 failed after 3 months
Back to HD 2nd transplant Dec 10 failed after 11 months
Difficult times with a femoral line and catching MSSA (Thank you Plymouth Hospital)
Back on HD (not easy to do that third time around)
Fighting hard (two years on) to do home HD ... watch this space!
Oh and I am am getting married 1/08/15 to my wonderful partner Drew!!!

Icare I was having terrible neuropathy in my feet. My doctor prescribed Neurontin 100mg caps. He said it only helps some people but for those it works for it basically erases neuropathy pain. Thus far it has worked for me.

I have gained great relief by taking 150mg of a medication called LYRICA of an evening. I'm in Australia, and it may exist under another name in the U S. Pregabalin is the active ingredient, and it is a Pfizer product. I hope this helps.

I treat neuropathy a lot in my office.  Make sure it is truly neuropathy and not another ilness or infection.
For neuropathy Lyrica is the drug of first choice often, followed by neurontin , cymbalta, and almost any antidepressant with mixed seratonergic and noradrenergic effects. There is also the vitamin B analogues like Metanx which has fewer side effects but can help a lot.

They did also put me on a strong Vitamin B complex as well, without explaining why.

The b vitamins effect nerve function a lot.  From my own practice I dont find just taking high doses of B vitamins is enough. You need specially prepared analogues like Metanx which are a derivitive of the B vitamins that are neur specifiic. I have seen good results in my diabetic neuropathy patients with Metanx. Pam lab manufactures metanx. Look it up at Pamlab.com.
