My boyfriend just got offered a job in Houston. We are thrilled since he hates his current one, we both hate this town and I can't find a job here. We're gonna have to haul a** to get him there when they want him in March, even if he were completely healthy. Right now he's doing Liberty cycler. So along with all the other moving concerns, what do we do about his medical insurance and treatment until the new job insurance kicks in? He has Blue Cross thru his current employer and has Medicare lined up. NKF is currently reimbursing him for his Blue Cross. Luckily, his new employer has Blue Cross, too.

Does he go to Medicare coverage in-between or should he make the Blue Cross payments himself? If he makes them himself, will NKF continue to pay for it? What has your experience been?

I've never been through this myself, but I'd do Cobra if I were him. NKF should pay for that, or at least help pay for that. I know there are other members who have had their Cobra paid for by the NKF. I'd give them a call and ask.

Thanks, Karen! I tend to forget about COBRA since I've never been able to afford it, myself.
