..... because they make you feel "not quite right".   I am pre-D, but stick pretty well to the renal diet (per my nephro, no fluid restrictions yet ....).   But I'm still trying to wrap my head around what I eat that sometimes gets me feelling 'a bit off'.    Even within the renal diet ..... like when I get symptoms (like edema in my legs or hand cramping, etc) ........I *try* to figure out if it's something in my diet (I don't salt anything and avoid anything with high sodium).  It's tough being diabetic on top of it,  because I can't be sure if something I've eaten has thrown THAT off as well (blood sugar).

Sooooooooooooo .......... what is it that you try to avoid and limit to diminish symptoms ??  Thanks

Hey Todd this is really interesting topic to me at this very moment.

I was watching recently a video on youtube from UndergroundWellness on wheat and belly fat so since I need to lose weight and the video made a lot of sense to me I decided over a week ago to give up all grains except white rice.

It's been a challenge for sure but this last week I felt more energy, a lot less depression and just all around good feeling.

Today I went to the grocery store to get some stuff and bought a loaf of sour dough bread.  I ate two slices and within a hour I wanted to lay down and sleep and just felt yucky like I had the week before.

I don't know if it's anything to do with wheat because my Neph doctor said i wasn't gluten intolerant but I did notice a huge difference in how I feel and I'm convinced that rice is my starch from now on.

I'm giving the rest of the bread to my friend tomorrow so it's out of the house.

I've experienced that if you don't eat something for a while then come back just to have a little of it you will feel like crap, and for me if I go back to something it causes me to have a bit of diereah.

You can eat almost anything in moderation, if you use the Keith Richards rule, no more than 3 bites. :clap;

Foods to avoid or limit...chocolate!  :'(

High potassium AND high phosphorus...bad, bad, bad.

(But I still sneak a piece once in a while, usually right after they take my blood for monthly labs.  ;) )

Orange Juice!
And I'm with you Willis, for a couple of days right after monthly labs I'm really bad. Then it's back on the wagon  ;)
