 :rofl;  Today I use my fistula for the first time.  If it goes well for two weeks I can get rid of the catheter, and start taking showers again.   :flower;

Wonderful!

Just don't make the same mistake I did when I used my fistula for the first time:  I forgot about taking care of it, and moved my arm while I was being dialyzed.  I got so badly infiltrated that I never made that mistake again.

Keep your arm absolutely still until the needles are out!

It happens.  Hopefully Monday will be better.  I hated having the catheter.

Monday was better!  The arterial line worked, and next time they'll plug in both of them.

Im excited for you! When I got my cath out in March, that first shower was the longest and best of my life!!! Its funny how we take for granted the simplest most routine activities. I know I got tired of the weird acrobatic moves in my shower stall (no tub) so as not to get my cath site wet.

I wouldn't worry too much.  Sometimes they go bad one day, and start up the next day without issues.  I started using my fistula in February of 2010 and didn't get the line out till June of that year.  I think my problem was my neph's laziness.  I was one of three people who were waiting to get their lines out at that time.

 There was this guy on another web site talking about taking a shower with his new fistula. He said if he got the water to hit the fistula just right it was like having an orgasm. I don't know how it applies to this thread but I thought it was very interesting. ;)

That was actually here.  I remember that.  I was thinking about it last night when I was in the shower, but it doesn't do anything for me.. *LOL*

It could have been there too.  I don't tend to read a whole lot on the FB group, though I am a member there
