I have seen many recipes for renal friendly bbq sauce on DaVita, kidney.org and other places. Some using tomato sauce, some not.  However, I haven't seen much by way of reviews, and, I'm sorry, but some of the folks on DaVita should have their tastebuds checked.  :urcrazy; Have any of you fine people of good taste tried any of them? I live in NC and have nothing against vinegar-based bbq, but I prefer a thick, tangy sauce.

I do need some feedback on this though. I am willing to make changes to other people's tastes.

Pagan just informed me that I hadn't posted when I finally tried the bbq sauce. I left a review on his website (http://www.diningondialysis.com/vinegar-bbq-sauce/) but didn't post here. Oops! Here's my review.

"I made the sauce and it was good! The consistency is excellent, but it’s a bit too vinegary for me and the boyfriend. I doctored it with a bit more brown sugar and molasses and sauteed red onion and garlic. That brought the tartness down a bit. I don’t want to but i must admit that I shook a few flakes of kosher salt in, too. It was fantastic on our New Year’s Eve chicken wings! We licked our plates. Thank you!"
