I was wondering if any of you ex-pd patients still have your hanging bag scale?
I seem to have left mine at the last hotel I stayed at. :oops; I did a search on line and cannot find what I need and I figured there are a few people that are no  longer on pd that might have one taking up space.
I will be happy to pay for it and the postage.

hanging bag scale?  I never had one of those.  I'm not even sure what it is.  I weighed bags by putting them on a regular bathroom scale.

Wow, Riki, that must have been a pain.

I don't have mine anymore since moving. If you can't get one from your PD nurse, what you should search for is "fish scale." There are all kinds, and most of them are more accurate than the cheapo one I had for PD. Here on Amazon

I didn't weigh the big bags that were on the cycler.  I could barely lift those.  A bathroom scale was all I needed to weigh a drain bag from a twin set.

Contact your center they should be able to hook you up, in the mean time, (if you are out and in about)
Just weigh yourself while you are holding the bag subtracting your dry weight of course.

ask your PD nurse they should have extra mine broke the first time I used it and my nurse gave me another one right away.

Oh, right. I forgot about the cycler. I figured everyone went through CAPD for a period first.

Thanks fearless. I sent you a pm. I read your story and so sorry that you cannot continue on pd. I've only been on d for a couple of months and I hope that pd will work for me untill I get a transplant. Seeing that you were on pd for 8 years gives me some hope. After reading your posts and many others about the liberty machine, I am soooo glad I have the Baxter, It is working very well for me.

Matt,
I did look at other options available on amazon and other sites, but the one supplied by Baxter is direct read I don't have to do any calculations. I might buy one just for back-up though.

Tbarrett,
I did call my pd nurse and she will loan me one to cover a trip I am going on this weekend. I do the cycler normally but when I am out in the middle of no-where I do manuals. And yes, things are looking good, treatments are going very well.

If you can find one that reads in grams (and goes up to 3000 or 4000 or so) that'll be direct-read in ml. Otherwise, one that reads in kg will be liters, so the conversion is super simple. I always though about getting a more accurate scale, but I never got around to it. It'll be great as a backup.
