I'm just so angry today. I was at a friend's house for a Full Moon ritual (its a Wiccan religious thing) tonight. Everything was going fine until I stood up. I didn't realize it at first but I had a accident. Thanks to my medicine I constantly switch back and forth from constipation to loose stool. I don't know if anyone else has that problem but I do. This is the first time anything to do with my kidney failure has stopped me from doing something I normally do. I had to have my wife drive me home and drop me off so I could bath, and change clothing. It just makes me so angry and frustrated.

Such a pain.  Gregory has had problems like that.  Especially, the medications are hard on his system too, and sometimes when he's gotta go there's no waiting at all.  If he were here instead of at work I'd ask him for commentary.  So frustrating that you missed the ritual too.

1986: kidney failure at 19 years old, cause unknown
PD for a year, in-centre haemo for 4 years
Transplant 1 lasted 21 years (Lucy: 1991 - 2012), failed due to Transplant glomerulopathy
5 weeks Haemo 2012
Transplant 2 (Maggie) installed Feb 13, 2013, returned to work June 17, 2013 average crea was 130, now is 140.
Infections in June / July, hospital 1-4 Aug for infections.

Over the years:  skin cancer; thyroidectomy, pneumonia; CMV; BK; 14 surgeries
Generally glossy and happy.

Especially considering that one of the reasons for any kind of ritual is that people get together as community, and you had to leave.  I suppose I'm probably not really helping here, by pointing that out.

May 13, 2009, went to urgent care with shortness of breath
May 19, 2009, went to doctor for severe nausea
May 20, 2009, admited to hospital for kidney failure
May 20, 2009, started dialysis with a groin cath
May 25, 2009, permacath was placed
august 24, 2009, was suppose to have access placement but instead was admited to hospital for low potassium
august 25, 2009, access placement
January 16, 2010 thrombectomy was done on access

I feel for you. It's not enough that so many small (and large) parts of life are constrained by dialysis. But to have to suffer indignity on top of it.  :banghead;

It has happened to me more than a few times.    :oops;  I even have gotten into the habit of having an extra change of clothing in a bag in my car at all times, along with some diaper wipes. It doesn't get any more embarrassing than not to have control. The problem lingered on after transplant too, but has been getting progressively better. I understand how you feel.

Had my colonoscopy on Tuesday, I have been sitting on the throne for 3 days now :'( Its a real s*&%^y feeling. Went to dialysis last night, blood pressure dropped way low, started vomiting and I had to call my wife to take me home.  Up all night with the "trots", got up this morning sick as a dog.  Had to go to work, because I am taking so much time off from my job running back and forth to the transplant clinic.  I just want to go to bed and get some sleep. Lord please help me :pray;

I think it is more embarrassing than any thing else. Don't worry about it, it happens to all of us. Next time you go out tie your trouser legs up with an elastic bands. Sorry I was only joking.

A friend also on dialysis and now has a transplant use to cary the extra clothes, and also he's also cary amodium.

Yep same her extra clothes in the car and Imodium in the purse. I am always afraid to eat out because don't know how soon its going to kick in. and always looking to see where is the closest bathroom just in case.

Oh Gawd...some of us went out to dinner and then to see The Lion King while were were in Vegas, and by intermission, I thought I was going to really embarrass myself.  Ever since I had my gallbladder out, I am prone to the squirties, and since I've started taking binders, it's even worse.  I had a very small accident in Fresh Market a month or so ago, and I hope that never happens again.  No one knew, but I was horrified and raced home.  I think I'll do what you all do and have some fresh undies stashed in my car.   ::)

since this kind of thing can happen I always thought it was a good idea to be a little extra careful about eating too much fibery foods. Kinda like adding fuel to the fire lol. I'm sorry that happened to you. We've had that kind of incident here on more thanone occassion too.

When I came home from the hospital after my peritonitis infection, I was on a lot of medications that are meant to, uh, keep things moving.  Because I was sick, I wasn't eating a whole lot, so I wasn't going a whole lot either, and with the staples from the surgery to remove the pd cath, I didn't really like going anyway.  Because of the medication, it just kinda, came out.  I started wearing adult diapers, and did so until all the staples were removed and I didn't need the medication anymore
