I have a problem with high PTH so i was prescribed Cinacalcet a while ago but every time i took it my heart started to race and i woke up in the night with chest pains, as soon as i stopped taking it ,they went. Anyway my neph decided to send me for a heart scan to see if anything was going on , that was 3 weeks ago. I pushed on tues for a decision on what he was going to do and im still waiting. While im doing all this waiting im getting what i pressume is bone pain ? Im aching all over, especially down my spine and im shuffling rather than walking along because my feet and legs are aching. Is there any relief while im waiting ? I dont know what his plan is, but he did mention 'loading me up with calcium first ', then take the cinacalcet again if my scan is clear !

i ended up ahving the parathyroid surgery because my insurance wouldnt cover the meds for it.
the pain is terrible, makes it hard to do anything! My dr offered me pain pills, but I have a young child at home, and didnt want to be drugged while caring for him.
sorry not much help!

Sensipar and Cinacalet are the same thing, so yes.

I was told early on to NOT have the sensipar at the same time as calcitricol(calcium-activated vitamin D) - apparently they do interact so yeah I used to have one at lunchtime and the other at night and I had no problems.

Thats interesting RM as no one has mentioned that ! But it isnt the problem as i wasnt on vit D at the same time. They seemed to think i might need more calcium first although my bloods came back in the normal range , tbh i think they are just second guessing ......as usual !
