Must-read article series

The website propublica.org is running a lengthy series of articles about dialysis, it's current state, who's paying, outcome comparisons, and much more.
okarol has copied over the main article in the News section, but I think everyone here would enjoy seeing all the information they have on the website.
Here's a link directly to the main dialysis story, and other associated stories can be found from there.

If it's International, I do...if it's relative to the USA health system...usually no.

The ProPublica series is truly groundbreaking reporting and I encourage everyone to follow it.
They also have a link where you can sign up if you want to be notified when ProPublica releases data comparing dialysis facilities. Sign up here for an e-mail alert.

Karol, I want you to know that the News Section is one of my favorite parts of IHD. I just don't comment very often. So your diligent work is greatly appreciated.

I ALWAYS read the news section, okarol. Particularly this one, since I was interviewed for it!

Gee thanks Stacy, Meinuk and Desert Dancer!
Hey, I just got through reading the 52 comments on the ProPublica news story
"In Dialysis, Life-Saving Care at Great Risk and Cost"
http://www.propublica.org/article/in-dialysis-life-saving-care-at-great-risk-and-cost
The remarks are all over the board from doctors who say patients are non-compliant and that's why it's so bad, while another doc says patients are mistreated, to others saying it's not bad at all and everything is peachy, to providers saying it's the patients own fault for being poor, or obese and ignoring doctors, to patients sharing their stories and so it goes. If you have a few minutes - please read it, and add a comment. The discussion is really eye opening.
