I am finally having my Parathyroidectomy on Wednesday! I go in at 7:30AM to have a central line placed, and that afternoon I am having the surgery. I will be in for about 2 weeks or so. I am looking forward to not being in pain!

me neither KS lol! They said because I will need IV calcium afterwards, and they want to monitor my PTH level, etc. I really hope I get a private room at least. I don't like sharing a room with a stranger especially at night, it just kind of freaks me out.

Holy cow, 2 weeks seems excessive! They just sent me home the next day and told me to chew tums whenever my lips and fingers went numb!

they keep you in hospital for a parathyroidectomy? They do it here in day surgery. They admitted me when I had mine done because I have a hard time coming out of anesthetics, but usually they send you home as soon as you're alert enough to go
