I'm sad I can't give you birthday hugs too.
I think this Josh bloke sounds like a keeper! Jenny & Josh... yeah, that works for me!!!
Jenny sometimes you gotta just do stuff for YOU and I think it's great you're making the most of it (and working on taming Mr Josh too clearly is helping your mood a bit I daresay
). It's sad that your mum is so protective of you that she's actually stifling the life out of you that dialysis is supposed to support. I mean if "life" meant existing on the bloody machine I'd do myself in!! I consider my life sooooo much more than kidney disease and dialysis!! Today I got up and flew to Sydney and did not much, but took the day off work so that was good !!
When I got home and spent quality time with my kitty I got a facebook request from a girl I knew like 10 years ago who wanted to catch up (totally made my day!) and I also went and bought a football for my co-worker's son whoose birthday it was the other day. Now sure, I had to be careful with my fluids, and take note of what I was eating, use binders etc, but I got out there and DID STUFF THAT I WANTED TO DO!!!! Not an invalid at home!!!! And sadly I'm almost double your age (sniff, sniff, pout!)..
I understand being protective of someone, but being on dialysis does NOT mean you're fragile and going to break or something. Sure, you get tired easy at times, and stuff... don't we all? It's sad that this can't really be explained better to your mum so she can support you better and help you to ENJOY what you have, not be in fear of it.
I love the "no drinks day" btw!! Like I said, Josh sounds awesome. If only I was gay and half my age.....
No seriously. Actually his comment about feeling bad drinking in front of you mirrors a date I had a few years back with a woman who got upset and refused to have a coffee with me because I said that it was totally cool for her to have one, but I wouldn't be having one. She was like "Oh I can't drink in front of you that's so rude!" and I was like "Look it's cool. I'm not offended and I want YOU to enjoy the evening out - there's no reason for YOU to restrict yourself just because I have to!" (that is NOT how I want kidney disease to run my life or affect others in it!). Well yeah we wound up having a bit of a fight about it (sounds so stupid doesn't it?). I like Josh's solution, but I totally get where you were coming from.
Now we want to see pictures of the happy couple post haste!!!
