Has it been a full moon ... this month?

What a horrible few weeks.  Long story short, we thought my hubby had cellulitis in his legs.  He was on intrravenous antibioltics, being adjusted for the fact he's a PD patient.  It was getting worse and worse, and we were really scared.  Another specialist thought it was some sort of reaction to strep throat he had, possibly to the antibiotics he was prescribed, got him off antibiotics, on prednisone for a few days, and it's clearing up.

Latest thing is his pulse has been very fast and he feels short of breath.  His blood pressure is good, weight is stable so the PD unit didn't think it was related to fluid buildup.  Suggested he go to emergency.  He's been admitted overnight and they want to do a CT scan.  However, they are saying that the dye they have to inject could affect what kidney function he has left, and they are talking possibly some hemo after the scan. This is all from the nurses - we have yet to talk to a doctor to see what they think is actually wrong with him.

My long rant is to ask if anybody knows about the risks associated with this type of test.  They have a CT scheduled for morning but are waiting for the on call nephrologist to look at his labs.  We are very concerned that when they are talking about "some hemo" afterwards, they are possibly talking a permanent change.  What questions should we be asking?

Im so sorry for all your going through and i sure hope someone can help ya out here.  All i do know is that hubbys Neph (in the past before ever being on dialysis ) said to not get that dye put in him, but that was before dialysis so i dont know once your on it what the difference would be. As of now, (being on dialysis) it seems that we're not suppose to worry so much about the health of our kidneys as much as the health of the rest of our body as the dialysis is now "our kidney".  Hubby has decent function left so this always bothers me, so im still in 'protect' them mode.   Geesh, hope you get some clear answeres here.swers.  I know it's scarry.  All the best, from another wife who's always searching for the 'right' thing for her loved one.

LOL, that's the same thing I say to myself when several things go wrong or folks just plain act stupid in a row, and I've been asking myself if it's a full moon for several weeks now.  Crazy drivers who decide to make a left turn from the lane next to me, across my lane and shoot into the left turn bay.  Actually, don't get me started on drivers!  Naturally, now that I want to complain, none of the others comes to mind.  Boo, hiss on all of them!

Hubby had the CT scan.  The nephrologist and radiologist felt it wouldn't be a problem and they are saying he should be fine with his PD, no plans for any hemo. 

Biggest problem now is they need a urine sample for some cultures - they haven't been letting him drink much because he might need tests etc. and he only pees twice a day a the best of times.  They're having a hard time understanding that and keep insisting that, "You must have to go by now."    It's kind of funny actually.

CT scan didn't show anything so now they're trying to figure out what to do with him.

Cellulitis can be nasty. I was in hospital on a drip for a week after getting it whilst working in Pakistan.

However, during hospitalization my kidney function was found to be failing. That meant I had six years to get used to the idea that I'd finish up on dialysis.
