that doesn't seem quite right to me. The thrill though is the most important thing - I presume they've told you to check it daily and if you can't feel it go directly to ER (do not pass Go, do not collect $200).... I'd definitely get the dialysis folks to check it out when you are next there just in case.

Yeah. The 'thrill' is going strong. I can feel it up as far as the elbow. We'll see what they say to-morrow.

My fistula never caused any hand swelling, so it might be something about which you should be concerned.
Good luck!

I definitely had swelling in my wrist and hand. And LOTS of bruising. The nurses and neph all said nothing to worry about and it is back to normal now, except for numbness just above the fistula and below my thumb.
My impression is that swelling is normal, but your dialysis nurses should know.

My hand was a bit swollen after the 2nd operation and badly bruised after the first. There was no infection just my hand saying WTF have you done to me? ? Good luck Galvo, just get them to check it out at the clinic anyway. Better to be safe than sorry Does anyone get this really weird itching sensation around the numb area? You can't scratch it cause you can't feel it?

Is it possible that the blood is backing up into your hand?
Maybe elevate it for a while to see if the swelling goes down?

All OK, gang. The vasc access nurse had a look at it and said it was nothing to worry about. And after hearing this, the hand, naturally, reversed the swelling and has gone back to normal.
Thanks, again, for advice and support.
