Question for Females on Hemo
«
on:
December 06, 2009, 04:55:28 PM »
So I started hemo last week (Wednesday) and I was due to start my menstrual cycle on Thursday but it didn't. I usually a very regular person, within a few days at most. Did hemo mess with your schedule at all? Or do you know if it can?
Thanks!

Yes it does, yes it can, and it's very common for your period to stop. If you are older it's also common to have what they call pre menopause or something - where menopause comes early. That means more than just having no period unfortunately!

There was another post about this a few weeks ago that you should read.
My period stopped long before I even started dialysis. But the answer is yes, CKD messes with your hormones. I don't know though that its directly related to the dialysis process as much as the disease.

Thanks for pointing out the other thread. I should be better about searching for things before just starting a new one
I'll get the hang of it eventually.

My kidney's failed a month after I gave birth to my beautiful daughter becaused the doctors mis-diagnosed me when I had gallstones which went into my pancreas causing pancreantitis. Now im just waiting to be put on the transplant list
I'm very thankful to have a chance to see my lil girl grow up !!

Mine went away for the whole time I was on hemo... and then came back when I started PD. I don't want it back.. just a perk of being healthier
