Rerun wanted to know so here it is :)

My got my catheter out Sept 26th and now it has been over a month later and I am finally getting used to not having one. It is great to shower without it and it is great to dress without it. My fistula has been working well lately so things are going well.

When they took it out they said it was more difficult than they anticipated considering it is a very easy procedure that they don't even put you our for but only numb you by poking a needle into you and asking "can you feel that?" over and over again.

They sawed the cuff until they finally could take it out. The other guy there held a spot on my neck as the doc pulled it out and ta da! It was done! That simple! Then I stayed for an hour just to make sure there would be no internal bleeding or anything and then I got to go home! :)  :thumbup;

Thanks for the update.  I want to keep mine a little longer, but Monday I have an appointment with my vascular surgeon to coterise the flesh around the catheter.  He may insist on taking it out.... I don't know.

Mine told me he wouldn't take it out until I had at least 2 full weeks of good fistula use without incident.

Glad to hear you are doing well.  I hope your fistula continues to work for you angie.

Unlike mine...It hurts like HELL when they stick me.  Eh, they said I might need a fistula gram.  I might not let them stick me tomorrow cuz of the pain.  Just have to wait and see.

I'm happy u r doing well.   :)

I used to like to give my fistula a break when I had the catheter ;) hehehe

Take Epoman's advice and try to keep the catheter in as long as possible .. that is unless you are getting infections .. then go with what they say cuz it goes so close to the heart that it can kill  you if infected and untreated  :o
