Just what is it with me ?

Ok so i ve just had  phone call, an appt has been made for next Tuesday to have my Tenchof out, no big deal you say but .. from what i have gathered from everyone on here and my own Neph its a DAY procedure , in  in the morning , out by teatime. So WHY are they insisting i GO IN  on Monday !!!! and wait around all day , to have it done the next day ? I just f'ing dont believe it!  They really are pushing me to the limit that im seriously thinking is all this worth it ? Nothing is ever straight forward for me . I have explained that i have to get my mum to my house if thats the case and not only that, its the cost !!!! It costs me £40 in taxi's to do this and i dont have an income now. Last week their almighty cock up cost me £70 in total , £40 for my mums taxi's and £30 for me to get home that night , its money i just dont have. I asked WHY do i have to come in the day before and was told , well the doctor likes you to be here the day before (no medical reason at all , just his whim !) I also mentioned sedation and was told , oh its done under a local. I said i know but seeing how bad a time i had with my tunnel line i wanted some sedation  but was told again , oh its just done under local. I dont know how much more my nerves can take , and again it falls on a dialysis day , which i think is too much for anyone to take , dialysis , then surgery. I tell you i am so p***ed off right now , i feel like saying stuff it , ive had enough of you all.

Oh for God's sake!... Poor KS... As if you haven't got enough to be worrying about...

Is there a Patient Liason Officer in the hospital???... Give them a call, and ask for their intervention... They may well have a chat with your doc, and see if, in the circumstances, he'll do it as a day case... Also it may be time to be a B with and itch, and insist on the sedation... You've been stressed enough with this whole TenchKoff thing, and a little bit of relaxion while it's coming out is the very least you deserve...

By the way, ask the Patient Liason Officer if there's any help available towards the additional costs you've had as a result of the last cock-up... The least they can do is cover the taxi costs...

Thanks Darth ,  i didnt even know about a P.L.O . Im at dialysis tommorow so i will find out , i tell you its getting beyond a joke now ! Anymore of this crap and somethings gonna give . Its not the procedure, its the whole ..why do I have to go in a day early just to sit around thing, thats getting to me. (and the expense!)

I'm not one bit surprised that you're at the end of your tether, KS... I'd be like a ballistic missile at this stage!... 

The VERY least the hospital should do is cover the additional costs that you've had because of their ineptitude!... If the PLO's not available tomorrow, speak to the Social Worker... Let's get this sorted!...

So here you go again ! What a pain in the ar**. Do they not do DAY SURGERY at that hospital? Why should you have to go in a day early and why do they always choose a dialysis day, why do they always cock it up? Questions, questions. OK you can deal with this, you know you can after all the other crap. I now think of our lives as being on a big dipper, there are more dips than highs. Just another dip for you.

Ask your social worker or patient liason if they know of any volunteer driver services for people who are sick, who are without transportation, who need to get to the hospital and appointments.  My state here in the US has one and it is awesome.  Without it, I would be in dire straits getting to dialysis.  Also ask if there are any taxi companies that might donate travel   to people like you.  If the social worker doesn't know of any, ask her to call companies and ask them if they would donate the ride to and from the hospital.  The worst they can do is say no.

I had a small procedure last month, and yet again had to go in the day before. I asked why i keep having to waste days for small procedures this is what i was told by 4 different staff (UK Hospital)

1. Its so we can swab for MRSA
2. Its so we know your here  and that youve turned up
3. No idea seems stupid to me
4. So we can plan beds

So there you go from the horses mouth. I turned up at 8.30pm after evening meal, still the day before!
