Hi  ladies  and  gents,
           I'm  just wondering  who's  on PD  and  who's  on HD????????  I  know I  could  read ALL post  and  figure  it out   myself,  but  who's  got  the  time  when  they  (I )  have  to  do  4-5  exchanges/day  and  get  some  sleep  as  well  (  I work  full-time,  graveyard  shifts)
                           Take  care!!!!!!!!!!!

Hemo-- but I previously did PD for 3 years until 4 peritonitis infections destroyed my peritoneal membrane and I had to return to hemo.

(I'm also a former transplant patient... I've seen it all!)

Hemo here.  The other kind does not even exist in this country.  A few years ago, they didn't even have hemodialysis.  Anyone needing dialysis had to take the ferry to St. Thomas every time.  Now there is a new sparkling centre in a new part of the hospital.

I have to do Hemo.  I prefer CAPD, but I've had too many abdominal surgeries and so my membrane is no longer usable.

I'm on PD........tried the cycler, didn't like it, so I do 4 exchanges a day.
I'm retired so I do not find it bothersome doing the exchanges.

I'm on PD. CCPD. I used to do hemo, hated it.. always felt sick and weak and yucky. I will do PD until I have no choice but hemo. I had a transplant before, waiting anxiously for another one.  :thumbup;

Bette, glad you are happy with the cycler!  I've been a 9-hour nightly Baxter cycler user for 1.5 years now.
 Say, whatever happened to Marina, she used to be a frequent poster here... Anyone heard from her?

HI Marina,

I haven't started dialysis yet, just been "grafted" a couple of weeks ago.  I am opting for nocturnal home hemodialysis.

May I ask why you do cycler some nighs and capd some days? And why do you not do anything on Friday at all?

I've been on PD for 2 and 1/2 yrs using the cycler for 8-9H/night and 1.5% solution with an occasional 2.5% bag.  2000cc fill for 3-4 dwells/night.  Will be switching to hemo for about 6 weeks after having a kidney removed laparoscopically in Jan or Feb.

Hi

Hubby is on nocturnal home hemo.  Did almost three years on PD .  It stopped working.  He got really sick.  Over 25 pounds of fluid on- lost eyesight for a little while.  Did 6 years in center hemo. Loved it -except for the driving-over an hour on the highway to get to the center. Started home on Oct. 18/06.  Has done really well on hemo.  Lives a normal life except for having to hook to a dialysis machine.  A very small inconvenience to feel as well as he does with no kidney function at all.  Nocturnal is working really well.  Has everyday to doo the things he wants to do.
