kidney function and it's response to a stroke

     For anyone experiencing a stroke (and otherwise healthly)  please do not feel you cannot be a live donor. 
     I received good news today and it pertains to Victor, my partner who is in need of a live donation or dialysis.  He had a stroke 16 days ago and his physical rehabilitation physician, neurologist and nephrologist have expressed that his stroke has not affected the function of his kidneys.  Who would have guessed -- I remain dumbfounded and with great joy.

Are you saying if you have a stroke you can still be a live donor??  Probably NOT since you have to go through a bunch of mental tests and even if you have "depression" they tell you NO.  You have to be healthy to be a live donor.  Something is "wrong" if you've had a stroke.

If Victor needed dialysis before the stroke he will still need it.  The stroke may not have advanced his condition but it didn't reverse it either.

Sounds like good news to me, Melanie. I hope Victor also sees the good side of this.
