Actually, yes, the trip is still on.  My husband and I both talked with the surgeon and nephrologist and told them our plans.  They don't see a problem with it, as long as I don't plan to do a lot of hiking, LOL!  The surgeon said I could come into his office before we leave and he would take out as many staples as he can.  Then, he'll give my husband a suture kit and let him remove the remaining staples if there are some he thinks should stay in a couple of more days.  My husband is actually pretty excited about that.  My surgeon is wonderful, and he has gotten to know my husband pretty well.  There have been a couple of times in his office when my husband has assisted the surgeon with a procedure, the the surgeon was very impressed. He thinks my husband was a surgeon in a former life.  He loves how we do home hemodialysis and brags about it to his staff.  He does whatever he can to help us.  Wonderful man.  I have a great care team.

 :rofl; :rofl;

When we were at our dialysis clinic yesterday it was right around time that patients were going on their treatments (in-center) Only nurses stick at our clinic and they were also busy seeing home hemo patients. They kept saying, "Aleta, will you go stick that one?"

 :rofl; :rofl;

I'm very comfortable sticking my husband, but I think I would be a nervous wreck to stick someone else. I KNOW his fistula.

It's good you have a helpful and skilled hubby.  :clap;

I'm so glad you'll be able to go on your holiday!

It's my first wedding anniversary this weekend and we were supposed to go away, but (of course) kidneys got in the way and we've had to cancel (2nd time this year..) it seems that whenever you plan anything your body conspires to mess it up!

Have a wonderful holiday and I hope things get better with your fistula. My good wishes to you and your husband.

I'm having a 'day off'.  We're encouraged to do this once a month over here.  No machine last night, no bags and stuff, and no fat belly for a bit.  Odd, but fun.
