Happy 2,000th treatment to Marvin!
«

Yesterday, my husband Marvin had his 2,000th dialysis treatment (yes, I've been counting). These 2,000 treatments have been spread out over the last 14 years, 3 months (he had a three-year break from D from 2000-2003).
We "celebrated" today by taking the day off (he now gets two days off a week on his home hemo schedule). Tomorrow night, we're going out to supper at the beach for a celebratory "date."
Marvin says every minute of the 2,000 treatments has been worth it -- they have "bought" him an "extra" 14 years of life. If he doesn't get another transplant, his goal is to have 10,000 more treatments (that would keep him around until he's past 90). Ummmm, yes, we can do that!

Thanks petey for letting us know.
I wish you both a wonderful supper "date"
on the beach tonight
(sound very very romantic!)
with many happy returns.
Best wishes from Kristina.

Petey, you and Marvin should write a book about your experiences with ESRD. I think it would be a best seller and it would help others to understand the trials and the victories.

Congratulations, Petey and Marvin! Way to go.
Dialysis may not be the most fun thing to do, but it brings us LIFE!

Oh supper on the beach sounds fantastic - enjoy it, you so deserve it.
I agree with Pelagia, I'd buy a copy of your book, you must have some wonderful stories to share and it would be such an inspiration to anyone staring out on this journey.
Love to both of you

Wow you guys are awesome!
I am with Twirl. I do not want to do the math on it. ( Three treatments a week for ten and a half years. 52 weeks in a year * 3 treatments *10 years=1560+108 for half a year=1668.)
Not too far behind you all.

I have 15 behind me. Any chance I'll make 100?
Well, maybe with inspiration for Marvin and the rest of you.
