Please send me your positive thoughts. I had my pd cath surgery on the 14th. and began feeling very ill the following day with fever , abdominal pain and diarrhea. I became increasingly worse and was hospitalized on the 20th when I was simply too weak to finish my treatment. Every culture came back negative. As, I may have mentioned before this is my third cath and have had similar illness whenever a new cath has been inserted or my transfer set has been used. I've also had peritonitis and other complications requiring surgery with my other caths. Today, I called the surgeon regarding removal of the cath. He put up a fight and suggested we " experiment'  with the new cath. I'm afraid I don't want to end up back in the hospital. I'm feeling very defeated about the whole experience. I was also told right before discharge that I have "suggestive" colitis . Blood was found my stool. I need to have colon studies. Then in a matter of fact manner I was told I have a solid mass on my uterus. They don't believe it's cancer but I need to have it dealt with. I was in so much pain why didn't they do the colon studies or the consult for the tumor during my hospitalization. I was speechless. Today, I just feel lost like everyone is dropping the ball and the argument with the surgeon didn't help. Sorry for the long post. Please send me positive thoughts.

Question: During all this, do you have a hemo-cath in?  My nurse told me that she's seen those hemo-caths cause an infection when starting PD.  As soon as I had my hemo-cath removed, I felt much better and peritinitus went away. Just wanted to throw that out there as an option just in case you did have one.

My positive thought this morning: Thank you God for a husband who did not mind being awakened last night at 2:45 to come get his wife who cramped so bad she came off at 2:30 instead of 4 this morning.
