Has this just popped up suddenly? I get keloid scars too, they are sooo annoying. They can form at the buttonhole site. My arterial is slightly more fleshy than the venous and I get quite a bit of pain when taking the scab off and cannulating. I would suggest you see your clinic about it, but if you are still able to cannulate without trouble, then I think its fine. I have huge scarring from when they re-operated on my fistula to superficialise it, I didn't think it would go keloid, as the original scar from the creation of the fistula was a really thin scar. Now its this hideous beast looking thing. The fistula scar on my other arm didn't go this way either! Sorry for getting off topic. Did I mention how damn hard it is to scratch an area where there is a keloid scar?!?!!
