So...are there any other amateur radio operators (hams) hanging around on this site? An on-air renal net might be a cool thing to get going. Let me tell you about the time I ordered and received my coveted Yaesu FT-817 back in 2001. I had been drooling over it and just had to have one. It was delivered right before my dialysis shift. I took the thing with me to dialysis, unpacked it, put batteries in it, read the manual just a bit, and soon CQ CQ on 440 from the chair. It may have been a first, ham radio from a dialysis chair but it did happen. I'm not sure what the staff and fellow patients thought but I had a great time. Of course it was more fun after I got it home where I could use real antennas but it sure broke up the monotony on that day.
