Oh Rose this must have been a shock for everyone.. with everything he had been through perhaps this was the last straw.. at least now he is free of pain and worry about all that stuff.. and that is something to be greatful for in the midst of sadness.

I thought of you and your family while I was at church this morning. I pray your Dad is reaping his reward of a good life and is sitting with the angels, free from all he has endured lately. I am so sad for you and will continue to pray as you make your way through this week.

Yes Dad has certainly earned his place in heaven. I know I may be biased but everyone says what a nice man he was, they said it when he was alive. Even the dialysis nurses want to change their shifts to come to the funeral (we don't yet have a date as we have to wait to see if the coroner has to be informed, I should know tomorrow).
Mum is being very good about it all, of course she is distraught but she knows dad could not have suffered any longer and she knows she did everything she could for him in life, so she takes comfort from that.
I will keep a close eye on Mum because I know it will hit her hard after the funeral, once it is quieter and all the visitors and phone calls have stopped. We may go away for a few days later in the autumn, goodness knows she deserves a break.
Thank you for continuing to remember us

I am so sorry to here that he has passed away..... (I only saw it now.) (I wanted to reply to your post : "the op is over" when I saw this one.)
My heart is with you and your mum in this difficult time......

Dear Rose, I've been away and just now getting the news about your dad. I know this is a sad time for you and your mom. I am so sorry that you have lost your dear dad. The measure of the man is how much you loved and cared for him. He was obviously a very special father and husband. I hope that you and your mom will find the comfort you need to get through the coming days and into the future. I am sending my love.

Yes there's certainly no-one like your Dad. Those of you who are still lucky enough to have yours please treasure them. I miss him and I miss my dog Molly so badly but maybe they are looking after one another now (and having a beer with Jessup's Dad
). Dad adored Molly so I know he will look after her well and Molly adored everyone.
Because dad died within 48 hours of his op it has to be referred to the coroner and that will cause a delay to the funeral arrangements, it is frustrating as we feel we are in limbo and want to get things settled, people keep asking when the funeral is as the want to attend and we can't tell them. Of course we are dreading it as it makes it all so final and in many ways just want it over now.
Mum is bearing up well, thank you to those who have asked about her. We have booked a few days away in October so she has something to look forward to once the visitors lessen and she is alone (of course I'll be there when I can). I have been printing these messages out for her and they mean such a lot, she is touched to know so many people care.
I'm struggling to sleep it's nearly 3.30 a.m. here, I'll try to get under the duvet now and see if can nod off, night night my friends xx

Thank you Marsha.
The inquest was held yesterday and found that Dad died of a sudden and massive heart attack (MI). It was very traumatic as I've never been in Court (I've always been a good girl - or at least never been caught
), I was called to the witness box, had to swear an oath and answer questions and I hadn't been expecting that. I was so lucky that my son Matt was there to support me every step of the way, God has blessed me with a wonderful family.
Anyway that is now over and the funeral is arranged for Tuesday. I may go missing for a while afterwards so please don't worry abut me, I will never forget you all and will be back, but I feel I need a bit of a break, so does Mum, so we will have some time together with my sons and then go away for a few days to recharge our batteries.
Thank you all for your support, please think about us on Tuesday, particularly my Mum who has lost her husband of 56 years.

Will be thinking of you on Tuesday, have a big photo of your dad at the end of his coffin at the service. I went to a funeral a while ago and there was a photo of the person, it seem to make the service mean so much more seeing the person we were all referring to. Seems to be the in thing in the UK now.
Hope you don't mind me butting in.
Thankgoodness for your sons being with you, I hope you and Mum try and enjoy the break to recharge your batteries.
Love to you and your family Yvonne

Oh, Rose, I'm so sorry. Somehow, I missed seeing this thread and was re-directed here by Darth (thank you!).
I'm sorry for your loss and also hate that you had to go through the inquest. I'll be praying for you and your family.

Rose so sorry to hear this about your dad. I have been offline most of the summer, so that is why I'm just now reading it. I know how you feel. My father died at 55 and he was a very special man too.
Please extend my sympathy to your Mum and my heartfelt condolences to you. My prayers are with you and your family.
Love, Mimi
