Getting hemodialysis unit in your own town

Hello
I am the little sister of my brother who is on hemo dialysis. I live in Victoria BC. He lives in a community up the island about a 3 - 4 hour drive. He is currently on hemodialysis daily and when he returns homenext week, he will be on 5 days per week. He does not have a hemo dialysis unit in his hoem town, but has to drive to Cumberland - a 40 minute drive each way, and he is just too tired to be driving himself. Then on the weekends, he will have to come to Victoria for 2 days of runs...and has to get down here...I want to figure out how to connect with folks in Campbell River and get enough information to go to the local MLA to bring u the need for a dailysis or sub unit to Cumberland in Campbell River.
Ideas?

Has he considered NxStage which is a small home dialysis unit that travels very easily?
I'm not on it, but I hear great things. I live a mile away from my unit.

NxStage isn't available in Canada, yet. :-(
Sorry for that little sister.

I don't know how it works in Canada, but there is no way they would consider a dialysis sub unit on the basis of a 40 min drive. There are people here you have to drive 1 1/2 hours every time. Has anyone spoken to you about home haemo or PD? He sounds like he would be much better with something other than in centre. Good luck.
