I hope everyone had a great weekend and the Fathers had one wonderful day to welcome in the Summer.    I have such a thinking head that my thoughts are just going round and round.   I saw my Dialysis manager that comes around once in awhile  :clap; to say hi .  She just came back from vacation and she wants me to stop by on Monday, to come in early before my treatment.   I so want to tell her about my position with the tech that sticks me which is in the same place all the time.  However, the tech that sticks is using a needle to take off the scab which hurts like hell :Kit n Stik; I hear from another tech that he is not safe which he isn't.  I find that I was cut off my time when he wanted to get off early.  He doesn't get my flow correct.  I just don't like him.  :stressed; I want to say something, but I don't think the manger would be suttle about saying something.  I want another tech to look at my arm to see if this tech is doing other button holes and not sticking in the same spot.

I don't know how to talk with her and I have my chance to express myself.   If anyone out there has a suggestion please let me know  :bow; so I can verbel for all that is having the same feeling at a dialysis center.   :grouphug;

I would just ask what the policy is for removing scabs. First when we started home hemo we were told to use a needle to remove the scab.  After about a year we were told not to use a needle anymore but to use tweezers (sterile ones).  I would first ask the policy on things that I have issues with and if policy wasn't being followed I would want to know why.

You have the right to complain and have that complaint addressed by the manager.  You also have the right not to be bothered if you do complain. Good luck.

We take a regular band-aid and apply a dab of Antibiotic ointment to the pad and put it on the entry sites, when we get ready for the stick, removing the band-aid usually takes the softened scab with it and it is ready for use..........

Just a small suggestion:  If the manager asks which person told you "he's not safe", don't tell her.  Since you don't really know her management style, it may backfire!

Hope it goes well!

I think del has the right approach.  Find out the way things should be done before complaining.  Even if everything is being done "by the book", if you are not confident in your tech, you should have the right to ask for a different one without any particular reason.  Good luck.

Yes, I thought about this and doing the thing about not being confident with this tech  I ended up moving.  I'm happy now.  Thanks Rivy :yahoo;

Write a letter.  It is the only way they can start to collect documentation on the situation.

Or... put a few empty beer cans in his locker.   :thumbup; (JK)
